Wisconsins New AD Sends Badger Fans A First Message Worth Reading

Newly appointed Wisconsin AD Shawn Eichorst reaches out to Badgers fans, emphasizing his personal connection to the state and commitment to excellence in athletics.

Shawn Eichorst wasted no time making his first pitch to Wisconsin fans.

Soon after the university announced him as the new athletic director, Wisconsin released a letter from Eichorst addressed “To Badger Nation.” The Wisconsin native leaned into that connection right away, framing the job as both a homecoming and a responsibility.

“It is an absolute honor and privilege to rejoin the Wisconsin Athletics family, and I am humbled to serve as your Director of Athletics,” Eichorst wrote.

He pointed to his roots in Lone Rock and said he understands the pride that comes with being part of Wisconsin Athletics. Eichorst also noted that his career has taken him to schools across the country, but said there is “truly nothing like the University of Wisconsin and the incredible people who call our state home.”

In his message, Eichorst laid out the values he wants to bring to the job. He said college athletics should help change lives and support the university, and he promised that belief would remain central in his approach.

“We will hold ourselves to high standards, hold one another accountable, act with character and integrity and embrace our storied history with innovation to provide our student-athletes and coaches with the support they need for success. Athletics is at its best when it advanced the University's mission,” he wrote.

Eichorst also tried to connect directly with the fan base, citing his own time in Camp Randall and the Kohl Center. He thanked supporters for everything from showing up to buying season tickets, donating or simply representing the university and athletic department.

“Your support means everything,” he wrote.

He closed by saying he and his family are looking forward to returning to Madison, and said he wants to spend the coming weeks and months listening to fans’ memories and suggestions for how Wisconsin can improve.

Chris Brooks Jr. Says Everything About Wisconsins Receiver Uncertainty

Chris Brooks Jr. has spent enough time around Wisconsins program to know what stability looks like, and that matters now more than ever with the receiver room still sorting itself out. The fifth-year wideout has already started games, earned praise for his blocking and leadership, and is expected to be one of the veteran voices helping guide the offense into the 2026 season.

Brooks is also in position to do more than just fill a dependable role. Coaches want his game to keep growing, and the opening at receiver gives him a chance to become a bigger part of the offense while working with the top unit. Wisconsins staff clearly trusts him, and his place in the mix says plenty about how unsettled the rest of the depth chart still is. [Read more 🡒]

Wisconsin May Finally Have The Go-To Scorer It Desperately Needed

After a roster retooling that left Wisconsin looking for a new offensive identity, the Badgers are at least exploring a familiar kind of answer: a player who can steady the half-court and become the first option when possessions get tight. Austin Rapp has already shown enough scoring touch to make that conversation real, and for a team that has had to replace key contributors, simply having a credible candidate matters.

Rapps path to becoming that guy still comes with some clear hurdles. His mobility and ball-handling will have to improve if Wisconsin wants to unlock more than flashes, and the staff may need to tailor the offense to make his strengths easier to access. If the Badgers can get the scheme and the player moving in the same direction, they may finally have the kind of dependable scorer this roster has been searching for. [Read more 🡒]
