Wisconsin Lands Explosive Tailback After Late Season Recruiting Push

Wisconsin landed a dynamic backfield talent in Qwantavius Wiggins, whose commitment marks a major win for the Badgers late-season recruiting push.

Badgers Land Explosive Georgia RB Qwantavius Wiggins After Electric Visit to Madison

Wisconsin football didn’t just heat up on the field this November-they made noise on the recruiting trail, too. One of the biggest wins came off the turf, as the Badgers secured a commitment from dynamic running back Qwantavius Wiggins, a former FIU pledge out of Langston Hughes High School in Georgia.

Wiggins made his official visit to Madison during a pivotal stretch of the season, and it’s clear the experience left a lasting impression. The atmosphere during Wisconsin’s thrilling win over Washington-complete with a field-storming celebration under the snow-was a moment that stuck with him.

“Really, when they played Washington and won, and we stormed the field. Really the atmosphere, and the game and football stadium were cool,” Wiggins said.

That trip wasn’t just about game day hype. Wiggins spent time with the coaching staff, took in a basketball game on Friday night, and got a full sense of what life in Madison could be like. Key figures in the recruiting process included Devon Spalding, Pat Lambert, Ethan Russo, and Michael Kopay-staff members who helped build a strong connection with the Georgia standout.

“Me and Coach Spalding have a good relationship,” Wiggins said. “I feel like I can just go in there, and hopefully play early.”

Wiggins also has a personal tie to the program-he trains with fellow Georgia product Amari Latimer, another Wisconsin target. That bond only adds to the comfort level he’s found with the Badgers.

“Me and him have been pretty close, it feels good to [team up],” Wiggins added.

At 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Wiggins brings a well-rounded skill set to the table. His junior and senior film pops with traits that translate well to the Big Ten: a blend of speed, power, and vision that makes him a tough tackle in space and a reliable option between the tackles.

“I would say my speed, physicality, contact balance, and also my vision stand out,” he explained.

Wiggins models his game after some of the NFL’s most exciting young backs-players like Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Josh Jacobs. That trio represents a mix of explosiveness, versatility, and toughness-qualities Wiggins clearly sees in himself and hopes to bring to Wisconsin’s backfield.

The plan is for Wiggins to enroll in June of 2026, giving him time to continue refining his game before stepping onto the college stage. But make no mistake-he’s already got the tools, the mindset, and the motivation to make an early impact in Madison.

For a Wisconsin program that’s always valued physical, downhill runners with big-play potential, Wiggins looks like a perfect fit. And if his visit was any indication, the Badgers are building more than just a roster-they’re building a culture that recruits want to be part of.
