Wisconsin is leaning all the way into the moment.
Fresh off its comeback win on the road at No. 13 Penn State, the Badgers unveiled new all-red uniforms for Saturday’s homecoming game against Michigan State, giving their Week 5 “Red-Out” a look to match the plan in the stands.
The school had already set the tone by asking fans to pack Camp Randall in Cardinal Red, but the new reveal takes it a step further. This is Wisconsin’s first alternate jersey since the opener against Notre Dame, when the Badgers wore their metallic Shamrock Series look.
The jersey itself isn’t brand new to the program. Wisconsin wore the same design last season for homecoming against Iowa, though that version came with white pants and a white helmet featuring the old-school block W. This time, the Badgers are going full red, pairing the jersey with red pants and an inverted version of the helmet.
Alternate uniforms haven’t been a regular thing under Luke Fickell, but homecoming appears to be the exception. Wisconsin has clearly decided this is the right time to make a splash, especially after the kind of win that gets people talking again.
The Badgers’ victory in Happy Valley pushed them to the edge of the AP Top 25 and nudged them back into the national conversation. Nobody is suddenly slotting Wisconsin into the Big Ten title or College Football Playoff race, but the program did what it needed to do: land a big win, turn some heads, and get a little respect back.
That matters in Madison, where homecoming weekend already brings plenty of energy. Add in the start of the men’s hockey season this weekend, and the city has plenty going on. The new uniforms just give the buzz around Wisconsin football another jolt.

Jake Dickert Is Building Buzz Wisconsin Fans Can't Ignore
Wake Forests strong start under Jake Dickert has been hard for Wisconsin fans to miss. At 3-1, with a road win over No. 16 Louisville already on the ledger, Dickert has pushed himself into a wider conversation about coaches who could surface when future Power Four openings come around. The buzz has only grown because he is not a name out of nowhere, either, with his previous success at Washington State giving evaluators another reason to take the current run seriously.
For Wisconsin, the interest is obvious because the coaching market is always watching who can win in a hurry and handle tougher assignments. Analysts and reporters on the Crain & Cone podcast and On3 have already flagged Dickert as one to watch, and Wake Forests manageable remaining schedule means the spotlight could get even brighter if the season keeps unfolding this way. For now, he is simply adding another layer to the list of names Badgers fans are likely to hear again. [Read more 🡒]
Wisconsin Commit Kingston Allen Is Fueling Big Dreams At Running Back
Kingston Allens latest burst came in a familiar setting for Notre Dame High School, where the Wisconsin commit piled up 279 yards and six touchdowns on 29 carries in a 66-18 win over Menasha. It was the first game Allen had played entirely since Week 2 of the season, and it served as another reminder of why the Badgers like the look of his running style and production.
The numbers he has stacked this fall are hard to ignore. Allens season totals have climbed to 1,981 yards and 38 touchdowns, helping Notre Dame stay unbeaten at 7-0 while he continues to fuel big expectations around his future in Madison. [Read more 🡒]
Wisconsins Resume Is Turning Into A Ranking Debate Fans Cant Ignore
Wisconsins place in the national conversation is getting harder to ignore, even if the AP Top 25 left the Badgers on the outside looking in. They still drew the most votes among unranked teams, which effectively puts them at No. 26, and that gap between the poll and the perception around the program has become part of the discussion. Add in ESPN analyst Greg McElroy slotting Wisconsin at No. 15 in his Top 15, and it is clear this team is becoming one of the more interesting ranking arguments in the sport.
The case for the Badgers starts with the resume, especially the win at Penn State and a schedule that has asked plenty of them already. The debate, though, is whether that body of work outweighs the flaws that still show up when the team is broken down more closely. For Wisconsin, that tension is what makes the ranking conversation so compelling right now, because the numbers tell one story while the eye test keeps leaving room for disagreement. [Read more 🡒]
