Wisconsin Fans Are Already Debating These Badgers Ratings

Deck: Discover which Wisconsin Badgers athletes have earned top ratings in EA Sports's highly anticipated College Football 27 video game.

EA Sports’s College Football 27 is still weeks away from hitting shelves, but Wisconsin’s player ratings are already giving Badgers fans plenty to chew on.

The top of the list is packed with new faces. In fact, Wisconsin’s five highest-rated players in the game are all transfer additions, a sign of just how much roster turnover is reflected in the rankings.

Leading the way is running back Abu Sama III, who comes in at 85 overall. Cornerback Javan Robinson is right behind him at 85, while quarterback Colton Joseph and defensive lineman Hammond Russell IV both check in at 84.

Safety Marvin Burks rounds out that group at 83.

From there, the rest of the top 10 stays crowded with more newcomers and a few familiar names. Kicker Gavin Lahm sits at 81 overall, followed by linebacker Mason Posa, defensive lineman Junior Poyser, running backs Darrion Dupree and Bryan Jackson, all at 80 overall.

Here’s the full top 10 for Wisconsin in College Football 27:

  1. RB Abu Sama III - 85 overall
  2. CB Javan Robinson - 85 overall
  3. QB Colton Joseph - 84 overall
  4. DL Hammond Russell IV - 84 overall
  5. S Marvin Burks - 83 overall
  6. K Gavin Lahm - 81 overall
  7. LB Mason Posa - 80 overall
  8. RB Darrion Dupree - 80 overall
  9. DL Junior Poyser - 80 overall
  10. RB Bryan Jackson - 80 overall

The most eye-catching number in the group is probably Posa’s. The rising sophomore linebacker was arguably Wisconsin’s best player over the second half of last season, and he’s expected to lead the defense in 2026, but the game still slots him at just 80 overall. His inside linebacker partner, Cooper Catalano, is even lower at 73 overall.

Lahm’s rating stands out too. He’s listed at 81 overall despite having no field goal attempts in his Badgers career, and he’s set to take over as Wisconsin’s full-time kicker this season.

The speed and strength ratings tell their own story. Transfer wide receiver Malachi Coleman is Wisconsin’s fastest player at 95 speed, even though he’s rated 77 overall. Cornerback Bryce West follows at 94 speed, cornerback Eric Fletcher has 93, and Sama comes in at 92.

Up front, transfer offensive lineman P.J. Wilkins owns the team’s best strength rating at 93. Russell and offensive lineman Kevin Heywood are next at 90 strength, with Emerson Mandell and Poyser both at 89.

Badgers Recruiting Surge Just Put Them In The Mix Again

Wisconsins recruiting momentum has started to look like something more than an early-class blip. The Badgers already have three commitments in their 2027 group, highlighted by four-star wing Baboucarr Ann, the top recruit in Minnesota and a Rivals top-40 prospect nationally, and that haul has Wisconsin sitting near the top of the national team rankings for the cycle.

The next layer is already taking shape, too, with the staff jumping into the 2028 race by offering Cole Kelly, a top-40 recruit from Illinois. It is another sign the Badgers are trying to stay ahead of the curve and build on the early buzz, even as the real challenge now becomes turning this surge into something that lasts. [Read more 🡒]

Nick Boyd Just Got The Shot Badgers Fans Were Waiting On

Nick Boyds path to the NBA took a little longer than some hoped, but the former Wisconsin guard is still getting his shot. After going undrafted, he has landed in a place where the next stage of his career can actually begin, and for a player whose age and draft status shaped the way teams viewed him, the opportunity matters just as much as the label attached to it.

Boyd now gets a chance to compete for a roster spot in summer league, which is often where undrafted guards have to prove they belong all over again. For Badgers fans, it is another reminder that the route to the league is rarely linear, but it does give Boyd a legitimate opening to show he can stick at the next level. [Read more 🡒]

Badgers Fans Needed This From One Of Wisconsins Biggest Commits

Yahzeen Zion has been one of the more important names in Wisconsins class since his commitment, a highly regarded edge prospect whose rise has given the Badgers a needed boost on the recruiting trail. For a program that has to fight for every high-end pledge, keeping a player with his profile lined up matters well beyond the usual pledge-watch chatter.

The concern, of course, is that these situations rarely feel settled until signing day arrives. Zion has already drawn outside attention, and the kind of recruiting tug-of-war that follows a top commit can turn quickly, which is why any sign of reassurance from him lands so well in Madison as the calendar keeps moving toward the finish line.
