Notre Dame Just Turned Wisconsins Lambeau Opener Into A Bigger Deal

Notre Dame's throwback uniforms for the 2026 Lambeau Field opener against Wisconsin honor both their historic dominance and the legacy of Green Bay's gridiron past.

Notre Dame is giving its 2026 opener a throwback feel with a new Shamrock Series uniform reveal tied to one of college football’s most iconic stages.

The Fighting Irish will wear the look when they face Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, where they’ll try to keep their perfect series record intact at 12-0. It will be the 13th edition of the Shamrock Series, and the first since 2024.

The design leans into the past. Deep blue pays tribute to the 1920s Acme Packers, while the striping borrows from the modern Green Bay Packers uniform style. Notre Dame players will also have custom cleats made specifically for the game.

Lambeau Field gives the matchup an added layer of novelty. This will be the first Shamrock Series game played there, and only the third college football game ever staged at the venue.

The previous two were St. Norbert vs.

Fordham in 1983 and Wisconsin vs. LSU in 2016.

The site itself carries a Notre Dame connection, too. Lambeau Field was named for Curly Lambeau, a former Notre Dame player who founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919.

The Shamrock Series has been part of Notre Dame’s schedule 12 other times since 2009, with no games in 2017-19, 2021 or 2023. The concept has taken the Irish to places like the Alamodome, Yankee Stadium, Soldier Field and Fenway Park, serving as a home game away from home.

Notre Dame’s history against Wisconsin is also firmly on its side. The Irish lead the all-time series 9-2-6, and the teams last met in 2021, when Notre Dame won 41-13 at Soldier Field in the 10th edition of the Shamrock Series.

The game is set for Sunday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Wisconsin Basketball Season Ticket Prices Spark Kohl Center Value Debate

Wisconsin is already selling season tickets for the 2026-27 mens basketball season, giving fans a chance to lock in access to all 18 home games at the Kohl Center well before the next roster takes shape. The university is offering seats online, by phone or through an interest form, with purchases capped at six tickets per patron and prices set by section rather than a single flat rate.

The range starts at $342 and climbs from there depending on location, with additional fees and recommended contributions attached to some ticket categories. For a program that has long leaned on the value of a full home slate, the pricing is likely to spark the familiar debate among Badgers fans: how much the Kohl Center experience is worth, and how quickly the better spots will disappear once word gets out. Three Badgers Could Decide How Dangerous Wisconsins Offense Becomes

Wisconsins offense has a few obvious reasons for optimism heading into 2026, but the most intriguing part is how different the key pieces look. The quarterback gives the Badgers a true run-pass threat, the offensive line has a former blue-chip tackle still settling into a new system, and the tight end room features a rare blend of size and catchability that can change how defenses have to play them. Coaches around the program have spent plenty of time this offseason talking about development, physical traits and the way those traits might fit together once the games start.

The quarterback, Joseph, has already shown he can stress defenses with his legs, while Simmons-Johanssons progress up front could matter just as much if Wisconsin wants the kind of balance it has been chasing. Harris is the wild card in the best sense, because a tight end with his frame and red-zone value can turn ordinary drives into scoring chances. The bigger question is how quickly all three can translate their individual strengths into something that makes the Badgers offense harder to game plan for from week to week. [Read more 🡒]

Badger Fans Are Dreading This Possible Notre Dame Uniform Reveal

A purported Wisconsin jersey for the upcoming Shamrock Series game against Notre Dame is making the rounds online after a fan reportedly spotted it at Scheels with a Coming Soon tag. The leak has not been officially confirmed by Wisconsin, but the design shown in the images has already given Badger fans plenty to talk about, especially with its silver-heavy look and the kind of alternate-uniform styling that always draws a sharp reaction in Madison.

The chatter has been less about anticipation and more about dread, with plenty of fans voicing strong opinions about the colors and overall feel of the jersey. Some have already started imagining what a better final version could look like if this is indeed the direction Wisconsin is taking, but for now the reveal remains unofficial and the debate is doing most of the work.
