Over the past two months, they’ve become comeback kings, recording six double-digit comebacks, tying for the best in the nation. This newfound grit is largely thanks to their evolving leadership.
Last season, the Badgers were bolstered by a core of veteran players like Max Klesmit and Kamari McGee, who had deep roots in the program. Steven Crowl was a force at center, while John Tonje quickly became a star by embracing the team’s culture. However, with six seniors departing, the team faced a significant leadership void.

As the Badgers head into March Madness, Boyd and Blackwell are hitting their stride at the perfect time. Both have set career-highs in the Big Ten Tournament, with Boyd delivering in clutch moments and Blackwell enjoying a standout stretch. Over the last five games, Blackwell has averaged 23.4 points and 5.2 rebounds, shooting a scorching 55.4 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from beyond the arc.
For Wisconsin to make a deep tournament run, Boyd and Blackwell will be key. Their on-court performances and leadership have been instrumental in the team’s growth, setting the stage for what could be a thrilling postseason.
