The Wisconsin linebacker is coming off a breakout true freshman season, and now he’s making another kind of commitment to Madison. According to the Wisconsin State Journal and Colten Bartholomew, Posa has put his NIL money into Mickies Dairy Bar, joining a group that also includes Joe Thomas.
That pairing says plenty on its own. Posa arrived in Madison from Albuquerque, New Mexico, but he has carried himself like someone who already belonged there. He spoke that way, played that way, and now he’s investing that way.
The move also gives a clearer picture of what Posa means to Wisconsin right now. He was one of the best defensive players on the team as a true freshman, and he stuck with the Badgers through a four-win season when plenty of players in his position might have looked for the exit. Instead, he stayed, helped, and became part of the foundation for what comes next.
There’s another layer here, too. NIL and revenue share have changed what college athletes can do with their money, and Posa is using that freedom to put roots into the community instead of simply collecting the check and moving on.
And then there’s the Joe Thomas factor. Thomas is already a Wisconsin legend, a player who never really stepped away from the program or the school, even after his NFL career. Seeing Posa join him as a stakeholder in a Madison business is a strong signal of how quickly the sophomore has become part of the fabric around the program.
