John Tonje’s NBA path isn’t closed yet.
The former Wisconsin Badger has landed on the Boston Celtics’ Summer League roster, giving him another shot to make a case for himself after spending much of last season in the G League. It’s a notable break for Tonje, whose name had not generated much buzz before Boston made the call to bring him in.
The Celtics are sending a young group to Vegas, and Tonje will be part of that mix alongside second-year players and several rookies trying to carve out roles. Among the other players competing for two-way consideration are Milos Uzan, Curtis Jones and Caleb Grill, though Tonje has one clear advantage: he already spent time in Boston’s system last season.
That familiarity matters. Tonje bounced between brief appearances with the NBA club and extended runs with the Maine Celtics, where he put together a productive stretch. In the G League, he averaged 18.1 points on 62% true shooting and also flashed on the glass with a 14% defensive rebounding rate.
He’s still looking for a formal NBA contract, though. Boston did not bring him back on a two-way deal this offseason, leaving him unsigned for now. But with roster spots still available - especially on the two-way side - there’s still a path forward.
Tonje has already shown he can seize a moment. For Maine on March 11, 2026, he erupted for a career-high 42 points and knocked down eight 3-pointers in a win over the Magic. That kind of scoring punch is exactly what keeps him in the conversation.
Boston’s first-round pick from last season, Hugo Gonzalez, is also part of the picture, but he’s coming off FIBA qualifiers and may not be in line for a heavy workload. That opens the door a little wider for Tonje, who now has a real chance to put himself back on the NBA radar.

Wisconsin Basketball Season Ticket Prices Spark Kohl Center Value Debate
Wisconsin is already selling season tickets for the 2026-27 mens basketball season, giving fans a chance to lock in access to all 18 home games at the Kohl Center well before the next roster takes shape. The university is offering seats online, by phone or through an interest form, with purchases capped at six tickets per patron and prices set by section rather than a single flat rate.
The range starts at $342 and climbs from there depending on location, with additional fees and recommended contributions attached to some ticket categories. For a program that has long leaned on the value of a full home slate, the pricing is likely to spark the familiar debate among Badgers fans: how much the Kohl Center experience is worth, and how quickly the better spots will disappear once word gets out. Three Badgers Could Decide How Dangerous Wisconsins Offense Becomes
Wisconsins offense has a few obvious reasons for optimism heading into 2026, but the most intriguing part is how different the key pieces look. The quarterback gives the Badgers a true run-pass threat, the offensive line has a former blue-chip tackle still settling into a new system, and the tight end room features a rare blend of size and catchability that can change how defenses have to play them. Coaches around the program have spent plenty of time this offseason talking about development, physical traits and the way those traits might fit together once the games start.
The quarterback, Joseph, has already shown he can stress defenses with his legs, while Simmons-Johanssons progress up front could matter just as much if Wisconsin wants the kind of balance it has been chasing. Harris is the wild card in the best sense, because a tight end with his frame and red-zone value can turn ordinary drives into scoring chances. The bigger question is how quickly all three can translate their individual strengths into something that makes the Badgers offense harder to game plan for from week to week. [Read more 🡒]
Badger Fans Are Dreading This Possible Notre Dame Uniform Reveal
A purported Wisconsin jersey for the upcoming Shamrock Series game against Notre Dame is making the rounds online after a fan reportedly spotted it at Scheels with a Coming Soon tag. The leak has not been officially confirmed by Wisconsin, but the design shown in the images has already given Badger fans plenty to talk about, especially with its silver-heavy look and the kind of alternate-uniform styling that always draws a sharp reaction in Madison.
The chatter has been less about anticipation and more about dread, with plenty of fans voicing strong opinions about the colors and overall feel of the jersey. Some have already started imagining what a better final version could look like if this is indeed the direction Wisconsin is taking, but for now the reveal remains unofficial and the debate is doing most of the work.
