Greg Gard Reveals Key Change Sparking Braeden Carrington's Joyful Comeback

Discover the transformation behind Braeden Carrington's standout performance as Wisconsin eyes Big Ten glory.

The Wisconsin Badgers are gearing up for a showdown against the Washington Huskies this Thursday as they set their sights on the Big Ten Tournament. With a roster full of talent, one standout performer has been senior transfer Braeden Carrington, who has recently caught the attention of fans and analysts alike.

Head coach Greg Gard has been particularly impressed with Carrington's development this season. The sharpshooter has found his groove with the Badgers, showcasing inspired basketball throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Gard shared insights into what has fueled Carrington’s resurgence on the court. “He’s found joy in the game, and I think winning does that.

He’s found success individually, but this is the most success he’s had by far in college. That, I think, perpetuates itself, and he’s found a really comfortable and important role with our team.

He’s continued to embrace coaching and get better,” Gard noted.

The impact of winning on Carrington’s mindset is clear as the Badgers prepare for a strong push in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Gard expressed his happiness for Carrington, acknowledging the challenges of past seasons.

“I’m happy for him because, like I said, I know he hasn’t had success from a team standpoint, and over the course of time, that wears on him. You can handle losing for a little bit, but you can’t.

It’ll grind you out and wear you out if you have to have too much of it. So for him to be able to kind of re-emerge, so to speak, and reignite his love for the game and love for playing is good to see, and I’m glad that we’re able to take him here to March with us.

He’s going to be part of this season.”

Carrington’s journey has been one of perseverance and growth. After starting his college career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers and spending a year with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, he has found a home with the Badgers. His proficiency in outside shooting and ability to stretch the floor have made him a crucial part of Wisconsin’s offense, which boasts a ranking of 14th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency at 125.5.

As the Badgers continue their quest for glory, Carrington’s contributions will undoubtedly be pivotal in their tournament journey.
