Badgers Sent A Strong Response After That Nebraska Loss

The Wisconsin Badgers showcased resilience and dominance in their clean sweep against Maryland, reasserting their position in the rankings after a tough loss to Nebraska.

After a loss to the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers, No. 6 Wisconsin did exactly what good teams are supposed to do: reset quickly and handle business at home.

The Badgers swept Maryland 25-18, 25-23, 25-18, using a fast start, a late push in the second set and steady control the rest of the way to bounce back in style. Wisconsin also moved back up to No. 6 in the AVCA Top 25 after Florida dropped two spots to No. 7.

Wisconsin came out swinging in the opener, ripping off a 6-1 run to set the tone early. Lynney Tarnow, Eva Travis and Decelise Champion all chipped in with kills during that opening surge, and the Badgers never really let Maryland settle in. Champion finished the set with a kill that closed it out 25-18.

The first frame was as clean as it gets for Wisconsin. The Badgers put down 15 kills and committed only three attack errors while hitting .500.

Set 2 was the tightest of the night, and Maryland briefly looked ready to make things interesting. The Terrapins jumped ahead 7-5, but Wisconsin answered with another 6-1 burst, sparked by two Champion kills, one from Travis and a stretch of Maryland attack errors.

Even then, the set stayed tense. Maryland worked its way to a 21-18 lead and was on the verge of leveling the match, but Wisconsin slammed the door with six points in a row. The Terrapins trimmed the margin again, but Charlie Fuerbringer ended it with a kill for a 25-23 Badgers win and a 2-0 cushion.

The third set started evenly, with the teams deadlocked at 5. Wisconsin then created separation with a 5-1 run, and once the Badgers found that gap, Maryland never got it back. Wisconsin later put together an 8-2 run to stretch the lead to 18-10, and the Terrapins never got closer than six the rest of the way.

By the end, the numbers matched the feel of the match. Wisconsin hit .344 to Maryland’s .155 and controlled the match at nearly every turn.

Champion led the way with 17 kills and five blocks. Tarnow added eight blocks, Fuerbringer finished with 35 assists, and Anna Bardaro posted 15 digs. Kristen Simon also played well in the win.

Wisconsin Needed This Jalen Brown Message After Another 2027 Recruiting Jolt

Jack Thelens decommitment was the kind of recruiting hit that can make a fan base start looking twice at the rest of the class, especially when it comes on the heels of any other roster uncertainty. For Wisconsin, the timing made the 2027 group feel a little more fragile than it had just days earlier, and it put a spotlight on the other young pieces the staff still has in the fold.

Jalen Brown helped calm some of that anxiety by reaffirming his commitment after transferring to an out-of-state prep school, a move that could have easily sparked doubts if he were looking for an opening to back away. Brown has drawn notice for his steady development and a versatile skill set that gives him long-term value, with the kind of flexibility that could let him fit in at multiple spots down the road. Wisconsin Commit Kingston Allen Is Dominating Amid A New Recruiting Twist

Kingston Allens senior season has only strengthened the case for why Wisconsin wanted him in the first place. The Badgers running back commit has piled up huge numbers with multiple games of more than 250 rushing yards and five touchdowns, and he has kept stacking up production while carrying one of the most productive workloads in the state. He also owns Wisconsins state record for rushing touchdowns, a mark that underscores just how dominant he has been on Friday nights.

Allens big year has naturally drawn more attention from around the Midwest, with visits to Ohio State and Minnesota leading to offers from both programs. Even with that added recruiting traffic, he remains committed to Wisconsin for now, giving the Badgers plenty to monitor as his profile keeps rising. For Wisconsin, the appeal is obvious: a back who is producing at a historic level while still being in play for a few of the regions biggest programs. [Read more 🡒]

Wisconsins Upset Chances May Hinge On One Huge UCLA Change

UCLAs quarterback situation has changed dramatically just as Wisconsin heads into one of its most interesting Big Ten road tests of the season. The Bruins lost starter Nico Iamaleava to a season-ending injury, which means the Badgers now have to prepare for a different offensive look and potentially multiple backup quarterbacks seeing action. On the other side of the ball, UCLA has made its living by taking advantage of mistakes, with a defense built around forcing turnovers and flipping field position.

All of that makes the Rose Bowl setting feel even bigger for Wisconsin, because this will be UCLAs first home game as a ranked team in years and the atmosphere is expected to be lively. For the Badgers, the challenge is not just adjusting to an unfamiliar offense, but doing it in a building where the energy figures to be a factor from the opening series. The margin for error should be slim, and the game may come down to which team handles the uncertainty better. [Read more 🡒]
