Winnipeg Jets Prospect Thomas Milic Earns Unexpected AHL All-Star Honor

Rising through the ranks with steady play and NHL experience, Thomas Milic earns All-Star honors in a milestone season with the Moose.

It’s been a breakout year for Thomas Milic, and the hockey world is starting to take notice. The 2023 fifth-round pick of the Jets has officially earned a spot in the 2026 AHL All-Star Game, representing the Manitoba Moose. It’s a well-deserved nod for the 21-year-old netminder, who’s been steadily climbing the organizational ladder and making the most of every opportunity that’s come his way.

Milic has shared the crease this season with fellow Winnipeg prospect Domenic DiVincentiis, a tandem that dates back to last year and continues to show promise. The two have formed a steady one-two punch for the Moose, giving the Jets a strong glimpse at what the future of their goaltending pipeline could look like.

But it hasn’t just been about development in the AHL for Milic. When Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck underwent a knee procedure earlier in the season, it was Milic who got the call-up to the big club.

That recall gave him the chance to make his NHL debut-a milestone moment for any young goaltender. He also saw action in two additional games before being reassigned to Manitoba, gaining valuable experience at the highest level.

Back in the AHL, Milic has continued to hold his own. He’s posted an 8-4-2 record this season, along with a 2.57 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. He’s also recorded one shutout-further proof that he’s not just surviving in the league, but thriving.

While last year’s Moose All-Star representative, Elias Salomonsson, had the opportunity to head to Palm Springs for the showcase, Milic won’t be getting quite the same travel perks. This year’s event is set for Rockford, Illinois. Less sunshine, sure, but the honor remains just as significant.

For Milic, this All-Star selection is more than a feather in his cap-it’s a sign that his trajectory is pointing in the right direction. From a mid-round draft pick to an NHL debut and now an AHL All-Star nod, the young goaltender is steadily building a résumé that demands attention. And if he keeps trending upward, this won’t be the last time we hear his name in conversations about the league’s rising stars.
