As the 2025-26 season unfolds, it looks like forward Samuel Fagemo is gearing up for a return to his roots. Reports from Sweden suggest that Fagemo is set to rejoin Frölunda HC in the SHL next year, marking a homecoming for the 26-year-old who first honed his skills in their youth program.
Frölunda has had its eye on bringing Fagemo back for a while now. He last suited up for them in the 2019-20 season, where he made a solid impact with 13 goals and 22 points over 42 games. Since being drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2019, Fagemo has journeyed through the NHL landscape with stints at the Kings, Nashville Predators, and Winnipeg Jets organizations.
Despite his knack for finding the back of the net in the AHL, Fagemo hasn't quite cracked the NHL code. Over six years in North America, he’s tallied three goals and four points in 21 NHL games, averaging just under ten minutes of ice time per outing.
However, his AHL stats tell a different story. With 148 goals and 232 points in 326 games, including a standout 43-goal season with the Ontario Reign in 2023-24, Fagemo has proven to be a potent offensive force.
Frölunda, currently deep in the postseason, could certainly use a boost in scoring. Despite finishing the regular season strong, they lacked a top-10 scorer in the league. Their leading scorer, Jere Innala, posted 22 goals and 40 points in 48 games, which highlights the potential impact Fagemo could have upon his return.
Fagemo's move back to Frölunda could be just what the team needs to elevate their offensive game. His proven track record in the AHL suggests he could bring a fresh spark to the SHL, and fans will be eager to see how his North American experience translates back to his home turf.
