Jets Just Put Brad Lambert In A Tough Spot

Will Brad Lambert find a new team or return to the AHL after being placed on waivers by the Winnipeg Jets?

The Winnipeg Jets have put Brad Lambert on waivers, opening the door for the 22-year-old center to head back to the minors if he clears on Wednesday.

That would send Lambert to the Manitoba Moose, where a bigger role should be waiting. For now, he’s available to the other 31 NHL teams.

Lambert has been in Winnipeg’s lineup for most of the first month of the 2026-27 season, but the production hasn’t followed. Through 11 appearances, he has one assist, and that came in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct.

  1. He’s gone without a point in his last five games, and his most recent outing came last Thursday in a 5-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, when he played fewer than nine minutes.

His usage has been limited, too. Lambert is averaging 9:10 of ice time per game and carries a minus-5 rating.

There was reason to think he might get a real run with the Jets this season. In 2025-26, he put up three goals and six points in 25 games, which was the most he’d produced in a single NHL season so far. But Winnipeg now appears to think his game is better served in the AHL.

Across 42 NHL games, the former first-round pick has three goals and nine points. In 173 regular-season AHL games, he has 36 goals and 70 assists for 106 points, along with one assist in nine Calder Cup Playoff games.

Jets End Nine-Game Skid With A Comeback Fans Will Never Forget

The Jets finally found a way to stop the bleeding, and they did it in the most improbable fashion possible against Montreal. After nine straight losses, Winnipeg erased a late deficit by pouring in four goals in the final 2:39 of regulation, turning what looked like another frustrating night into a wild comeback that sent the game to overtime.

Morgan Barron and Kyle Connor helped fuel the surge, with Connor striking twice as the Jets kept pressing and pressing. Winnipeg also owned the shot count by a wide margin, finishing with a 47-22 advantage, and the payoff was the kind of rally that can linger well beyond one night on the schedule. [Read more 🡒]

Hellebuyck Faces His First Real Devils Test At Home

Connor Hellebuyck has settled in quickly since landing with the Devils on Oct. 23, giving New Jersey an immediate boost from a goalie with three Vezina Trophies on his rsum. His new teammates and coach Sheldon Keefe have already had plenty of positive things to say about the veteran, and the early returns have matched the reputation. Now the next step is a home debut that should tell a little more about how comfortable he is in his new surroundings.

The assignment is hardly a soft landing, with Edmonton coming in and Connor McDavid looming as the kind of opponent who can stress even the best goaltenders. For the Jets, who know Hellebuyck as well as anyone, it is another reminder of how much his presence can swing a game when the pressure rises and the matchup gets heavier. The real test at home is here, and it comes against one of the league's most dangerous players. [Read more 🡒]

Jets Slide Is Putting Pressure On Winnipegs Next Move

The Jets slide has kept the front office in a familiar spot for this time of year, weighing whether the answer to a rough stretch is patience or another move. After dealing Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg has kept losing, and the pressure around the next step has only grown as the team tries to stop the skid and avoid letting the season drift further off course.

General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is open to making another trade if the right deal comes along, and the current run has only sharpened the scrutiny on every decision. Scott Arniel is safe for now, but another loss could change the conversation quickly, which is exactly why Winnipegs next move feels so important right now. [Read more 🡒]
