Jets Injury Picture Just Got More Complicated Before Lineup Decisions

Find out which players might return to the ice soon as the Winnipeg Jets navigate their latest lineup challenges amidst ongoing injuries.

Ahead of the Jets’ matchup with the Wild, Scott Arniel offered a clearer picture on several injured players, and the biggest takeaway is that Walker Duehr is the closest to returning.

Duehr and prospect Garrett Brown are both working back from lower-body injuries, and Arniel said the club was giving its first real update on either player in about 18 days, dating to the end of September.

“Walker is getting real close. He’ll probably be coming into our practice, and then can’t really make a decision until they’re cleared up here.

Brownie is still a little farther away. Sol obviously is still in that sort of, that trying to get into game shape.

The other two guys, they have to get themselves ready to go before we can make a move with them. And again, I’m not hiding anything here, J Mo is still day-to-day.

We’re still trying to figure this one out here, so I may have an update for you tomorrow, but as of right now, we’re just trying to figure this out here.”

Arniel also touched on Elias Salomonsson and Josh Morrissey, with Morrissey still listed as day-to-day while the team continues to sort out the situation.

On Salomonsson, the conversation turned to how the Jets might handle his return. One option would be dressing 11 forwards and seven defencemen to ease him back in, but Arniel shut that down as a topic worth revisiting right now.

“you’re getting too far down the road on that one.”

He did say sending Salomonsson to the Moose to get a few games is on the table, though no decision has been made. Arniel said the team will factor in its health situation once Salomonsson is ready.

With Manitoba set for a pair of home games this weekend, one possible path would have Salomonsson play Friday and Sunday before rejoining the Jets for Tuesday’s game against the Blues in St. Louis. For now, though, the picture remains fluid, and the team is expected to sort through its next move when it returns to Winnipeg on Friday ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game against the Hurricanes.

Jets Prospect Shuffle Just Clarified The Organizations Depth Picture

The Jets made a small but telling depth move this week, reassigning goaltender Isaac Poulter, forward Mikey Milne and defenceman Evan Nause from the Manitoba Moose to Bloomington, their ECHL affiliate. For an organization that likes to keep its pipeline moving, it is another reminder of how closely the AHL and ECHL rungs are tied together, with prospects shifting where the ice time is available and where the development path makes the most sense.

Poulter, Milne and Nause have each been part of the system long enough to be part of the wider conversation about Manitobas next wave, and this kind of shuffle helps clarify where the Jets see the immediate fit. It does not answer every question about who is closest to helping in Winnipeg, but it does give a cleaner read on the clubs current depth chart and the roles these young players are being asked to fill right now. Jets Face A New Test After First Regulation Loss

The first regulation loss of the season has changed the tone around Winnipeg a bit, but the Jets do not have long to dwell on it with Minnesota up next. Winnipeg is still trying to sort out its lineup picture as defenceman Josh Morrissey remains day-to-day, while veteran forward Nino Niederreiter is back in the mix after his return triggered some movement through the forward groups.

Minnesota arrives with its own mix of momentum and concern after a win over Vegas, even as Nico Sturm was lost to a head injury. Calvin Pickard is expected to get the start in goal against Winnipeg, which adds another layer to a matchup that already feels like an early test of how the Jets respond after finally being pushed off their perfect run. Jets Climb Back On Top As One Breakout Story Keeps Growing

The Jets needed a response at home, and they got one in a 5-2 win over the Wild that put them back atop the Central Division. Cole Perfetti kept the momentum rolling with two more goals, extending a scoring surge that has made him one of the clubs most reliable finishers over the last stretch.

Neal Pionk helped drive the night with two assists while handling a bigger load on the blue line in Josh Morrisseys absence. Winnipeg has been steady enough to keep climbing, but the way Perfetti keeps producing and Pionk keeps filling a tougher role gives this run a different feel as the schedule moves on. [Read more 🡒]
