The Winnipeg Jets now have the first home date circled on the calendar for 2026-27.
On Wednesday, the NHL revealed the home openers for all 32 teams ahead of Thursday’s full 1,344-game schedule release, and Winnipeg will open at Canada Life Centre on Friday, October 2 against the Boston Bruins.
That game lands in the opening week of the league’s new 84-game season, which gets underway Sept. 29 with a five-game slate. The headline act that night will be the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes raising their championship banner before hosting the Florida Panthers, the previous back-to-back champs.
Boston’s trip to Winnipeg will be its second road game of the season. The Bruins begin at home against the New York Rangers on Sept. 29 before heading west to face the Jets.
There’s also a chance Winnipeg’s season starts before that home opener. If a team playing on Sept. 29 is also involved in a back-to-back to begin the year, the Jets could be on the road Sept. 30 or Oct. 1 before returning home to meet Boston on Oct. 2.
One other date is already set for Winnipeg: the Jets will host the Montreal Canadiens in the 2026 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic at Princess Auto Stadium on Oct. 25.
The full schedule release on Thursday will fill in the rest of the picture, including Winnipeg’s season opener, its longest road swings, back-to-back spots and nationally televised games as the club enters its first year under the NHL’s expanded 84-game format.
