The Winnipeg Jets’ veterans were the first group onto the ice at Hockey For All Centre on Friday morning, with the prospects slated to follow before heading to Quebec for this weekend’s Prospect Challenge.
Adam Lowry was back with the main veteran group for the first time this week after skating separately earlier in the week, and Nino Niederreiter joined the informal skates for the first time as well.
A total of 15 skaters were out there: Noah Gregor, Cole Perfetti, Nino Niederreiter, Adam Lowry, Isak Rosén, Alex Iafallo, Vlad Namestnikov, Kyle Connor, Josh Morrissey, Mark Scheifele, Dylan Samberg, Neal Pionk, Dylan DeMelo, Cole Koepke and Mario Ferraro.
Gabriel Vilardi, Morgan Barron, Brad Lambert and Nikita Chibrikov did not skate. Connor Hellebuyck was also absent from the informal sessions.
Per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press, defenceman Elias Salomonsson skated on his own after the main group was done.
A later skate featured a separate collection of players, including Haydn Fleury, Tyrel Bauer, Isaak Phillips, Parker Ford, Henry Thrun and Jack St. Ivany.
On the prospect side, the group and camp invitees were already getting work in on power-play setups ahead of the trip to Quebec.
The two power-play units were listed as Björck, Yager, Barlow, Wahlin and Freij, along with Julien, Wagner, Walton, He and Gustafsson/Brown.
The forward lines were Walton, Yager and Barlow; He, Björck and Burnside; Wagner, Julien and Cloutier; and Wahlin, Lajoie and Virk.
The defence pairs were Gustafsson and Brown, Nause and Freij, and Taillefer and Ta’amu.
One injury note stood out: 2025 third-round pick Owen Martin is dealing with an ankle injury and will not take part in the Prospect Challenge.
