Isak Rosn Scores First as Jet Despite Late Rangers Comeback

Isak Rosn shines with his first goal for Winnipeg, but the Jets falter as the Rangers surge in the third period for a decisive win.

Rangers Rally in Third Period to Defeat Jets 6-3

In a thrilling showdown at Canada Life Centre, the New York Rangers unleashed a four-goal barrage in the third period to secure a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Despite efforts from Isak Rosén, Kyle Connor, and Gabe Vilardi, the Jets couldn't hold off the Rangers' late surge, marking their second consecutive regulation loss.

Connor Hellebuyck, in his seventh straight start, managed 11 saves. The Jets will look to bounce back as they continue their homestand against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Rosén and Bryson Make Their Mark

The Jets found themselves trailing 1-0 as the second period kicked off, but new faces Isak Rosén and Jacob Bryson quickly made an impact. Bryson launched a shot from the point, which Rosén deftly tipped past Igor Shesterkin at 2:21, marking their first points as Jets.

"I was trying to go there, and if you want to score goals, you have to be there," Rosén explained. "Sometimes it’s tips, maybe next time a rebound. I think that’s where you have to be if you want to score goals."

Jets Show Resilience

The Rangers regained their lead at 7:36, thanks to Alexis Lafrenière. But the Jets weren't backing down. Just over 10 minutes later, Mark Scheifele set up Kyle Connor, who danced past Adam Fox and outmaneuvered a diving Shesterkin to net his 29th of the season.

In the third, the Rangers struck again early, but Winnipeg responded swiftly. Adam Lowry's shot was blocked, but Gabe Vilardi capitalized on the rebound, skillfully switching from forehand to backhand to level the score.

However, the Jets' efforts were undone as they conceded three straight goals, with Gabe Perreault scoring the game-winner just 2:38 after Vilardi's equalizer.

Milestone for DeMelo

The night also marked a significant milestone for Jets defenseman Dylan DeMelo, who played his 700th career game. With 441 of those in a Jets uniform, DeMelo reflected on his journey.

"I think probably just my steadiness," DeMelo said. "I kind of knew early on what was going to get me into the league and get me to be an everyday player.

Each year I’ve tried to evolve in all aspects. I pride myself on being a hard-working player and a guy that tries to do whatever he can to help the team win."

As the Jets regroup for their next challenge, they'll aim to harness their resilience and turn it into a winning formula against the Avalanche.
