DALLAS - Thursday night gives the Winnipeg Jets a pair of milestones to celebrate before the puck even drops.
Cole Perfetti is set to appear in his 300th career game against the Dallas Stars, and Mario Ferraro will play in his 500th.
Perfetti said he could feel the milestone coming.
“The other day I knew I was getting close,” said Perfetti. “Every 100 games is a cool milestone and a great accomplishment.”
His path to 300 wasn’t a straight climb. Injuries early in his career slowed the pace, but Perfetti has clearly found his footing now. He’s started the season on Winnipeg’s top line with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor, and the results have been strong.
Head coach Scott Arniel sees a player who has grown into the league.
“There is a player there that’s learned how to play in this league, how to evolve to use his tools, be an asset,” said Arniel. “I consider him still young and I know he’s at 300 games, but he’s getting better and better.
That’s the part about players you like to see. They prove every year and bring their skill set to the table every night.”
Perfetti has already reached 100 assists, doing that back on October 4 in the second game of the season, and he also has 65 career goals.
Ferraro’s milestone comes with a different kind of backdrop. Of his 500 NHL games, 490 were logged in San Jose Sharks colours before he joined the Jets. The 28-year-old has made a quick impression in Winnipeg, and Arniel pointed to what he brings beyond the obvious.
“You know where he is all the time. He’s very vocal, both in the game and in the dressing room.
He’s got a great personality, a real bubbly personality. Guys have a lot of fun with him,” said Arniel.
“He’s got some real bite and compete to him that we really like as well. He went through some tough times in San Jose but also some success, especially last year.
He’s experienced a lot of different things over his career. To play 500 games the way he plays it is a real good accomplishment for him.
He’s been a real nice piece for us.”
For Perfetti, the number is also a marker of how much has changed since he first arrived.
“Every 100 games you could probably look back and see how you’ve matured and developed and grown as a player. I think from the start until now it’s been a big difference,” said Perfetti.
“It’s been five years. I’m definitely a different player, feel a lot more confident in my game, a lot better with it.”

Jets Prospect Shuffle Suddenly Matters For Winnipeg Depth
The Manitoba Moose opened a six-game road trip with a stop against the Grand Rapids Griffins, but the bigger development for Winnipeg came from the roster movement around the affiliate. The Jets recalled forward Brayden Yager from Manitoba, giving the organization another look at one of its young forwards and continuing a season in which the Moose have been an important pipeline for depth help.
Elias Salomonsson also rejoined Manitoba after being loaned back from the Jets, a move that keeps the blue line in flux as the Moose settle into the trip. With players like Nikita Chibrikov and Henry Thrun drawing attention for their recent work, the affiliates day-to-day performances are carrying more weight than usual for a Winnipeg team that has already shown it will dip into those options when needed. Jets Prospects Put Manitoba In A Tough New Central Division Spot
The Manitoba Moose got another hard look at where they stand in the Central Division race, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Grand Rapids Griffins in a game that featured plenty of Jets prospect intrigue. It was the Mooses second loss of the season, and both defeats have come against Grand Rapids, a matchup that has quickly taken on an outsized feel for Manitoba as it tries to sort out the early-season pecking order.
Manitoba made some lineup tweaks before puck drop, assigning Walker Duehr to the team and inserting Fabian Wagner into the lineup, but the night still turned into a tight special-teams test between two of the AHLs best units. Even with notable performances from several Jets prospects, the Moose came up just short in a game that again left Grand Rapids with the edge and Manitoba looking for answers the next time these clubs meet. Brady Tkachuks Ottawa Return Turned Ugly In A Game Jets Fans Noticed
Brady Tkachuks return to Ottawa had all the edge youd expect from a former franchise face walking back into a building that has not forgotten him. The Senators turned the night into a one-sided statement, rolling to a 5-1 win over Florida behind goals from Tim Stutzle, Claude Giroux, Shane Pinto, Warren Foegele and Stephen Halliday, while the Panthers three-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt.
For Winnipeg fans keeping an eye on potential postseason noise in the East, the uglier subplot mattered just as much as the score. Ottawa also had to absorb an early scare when Linus Ullmark left in the third period after making a pad save, though the group barely missed a beat from there, and the tension around Tkachuk only kept building as the game wore on.
