West Virginia gets its Big 12 opener at home next weekend, and the Mountaineers will have their hands full with an Oklahoma State offense that arrives in Morgantown with real firepower.
WVU is coming off a strong showing in Charlotte, where it knocked off 25th-ranked Virginia and controlled the game for much of the night. The Cavaliers’ garbage-time touchdown made the final margin look a little friendlier, but the second half belonged to the Mountaineers.
Now the focus shifts to the Cowboys, who are led by quarterback Drew Mestemaker and running back Caleb Hawkins. West Virginia enters at 3-0 overall and 0-0 in the Big 12, while Oklahoma State is 2-1 and also opening league play.
The game is set for next weekend in Morgantown, with kickoff time, TV channel and streaming information listed for fans following along. Radio coverage will come through the Mountaineers Sports Network, with affiliates available across West Virginia and beyond.
The matchup also carries a little history. Oklahoma State owned the series for a long stretch, winning seven straight from 2015 through 2021. But West Virginia has taken two of the last three meetings, including the most recent one two years ago in Stillwater.
Still, Morgantown has not been a friendly place for the Mountaineers in this series. WVU is only 2-5 against Oklahoma State at home, and two of those losses came by one score, including one in overtime.
