WVU Is Already Giving Fans A Reason To Pack Hope Coliseum Early

Get ready for an exciting series of themed home games as West Virginia University unveils their action-packed 2026-27 men's basketball nonconference promotional slate, promising fun for fans of all ages.

West Virginia’s men’s basketball schedule at Hope Coliseum is getting a full promotional makeover this fall, and the nonconference slate comes loaded with theme nights, giveaways and ticket deals.

The WVU Athletics Marketing Department released its 2026-27 home promotion schedule for the nonconference portion of the season, with the Big 12 Conference promotional lineup set to be announced in December.

The home opener against Niagara on Monday, Nov. 2 will double as the program’s annual Toy Drive. Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy worth at least $5, and those who donate will get a voucher for a discounted $5-plus-fees ticket to either the Dec. 1 game against Mercyhurst or the Dec. 16 game against Northern Arizona, along with any remaining women’s basketball home game. That night also includes a poster giveaway featuring the 2026-27 WVU men’s basketball schedule.

Before that, the Mountaineers kick things off with an exhibition against Wheeling on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. ET.

It’s Haunted Hoops night, with fans encouraged to wear costumes, grab free candy and take part in Halloween-themed concourse activities. Tickets for the game start as low as $5 plus fees.

The promotional calendar keeps rolling right through December. On Friday, Nov. 6 against Stetson, WVU will host its first Family Night of the season, offering four tickets plus a $25 concession voucher for $65. Fans can also pick up a copy of the 2026-27 schedule magnet.

A week later, Thursday, Nov. 12 against Mercer will be Heroes Day in recognition of Veteran’s Day, with the school honoring veterans and active-duty military members throughout the game. That matchup will also feature a Kroger Canned Food Drive benefiting the Lions’ Club. Fans who bring a canned food item can receive a discounted $5-plus-fees ticket to the Dec. 1 or Dec. 16 game, as well as any remaining women’s basketball home game.

December opens with Youth Hoops Night on Tuesday, Dec. 1 against Mercyhurst, along with the first Happy Hour - Select Concessions night of the season. Select concession items will be discounted at all Hope Coliseum concession stands from 5:30-7 p.m., and youth basketball leagues and organizations around Morgantown will have access to discounted tickets.

The Dec. 5 matchup with Virginia Tech at 4:30 p.m. ET is set up as a GOLD RUSH game, with fans encouraged to wear gold. That night also comes with a photobooth, face painting and balloon artistry in the concourse before the game, plus a halftime performance from Christian and Scooby, the acrobatic and hand-balancing duo.

Two more family-focused promotions follow. On Sunday, Dec. 13 against Coppin State, WVU will stage its second Family Day, again offering four tickets and a $25 concession voucher for $65. That game will also include Maniac for a Day, with a limited number of discounted student-section tickets available because class is out of session, giving fans a chance to join in the student traditions.

The Dec. 16 game against Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. ET is Superhero Night. Kids 12 and under who come in costume will receive a free ticket at the ticket office, and fans can expect a free superhero-themed WVU men’s basketball poster plus superhero characters from Cartoon Headquarters in the concourse before tipoff.

The nonconference home slate wraps up Monday, Dec. 21 against South Carolina State with Holiday Hoops. Fans are encouraged to wear ugly holiday sweaters, and the game will feature holiday-themed promotions, including Santa photos in the concourse.

It will also serve as a Mountaineer Kids Club game, with all members receiving free admission and parents or families able to buy discounted tickets. Further details on claiming the free tickets will be released closer to game day.

Season tickets remain on sale and are being pitched as the best value, at more than 40% off the per-game cost compared with single-game prices. Big 12 Conference mini-packages and nonconference single-game tickets for all home games are also available now at WVUGAME.com.

BYU Fans Will Want To See Where Bear Bachmeier Ranks Now

Week 8 in the Big 12 brings another chance to sort out the quarterback picture, and the conferences top tier still feels crowded with proven performers and rising names. The latest ranking takes into account recent game work, how each passer has shaped his teams results, and the defensive tests coming up on the schedule, with familiar names like Michael Hawkins Jr. and Conner Weigman still in the conversation alongside BYUs Bear Bachmeier.

For West Virginia, it is the kind of weekly quarterback snapshot that matters because the league rarely gives anyone much breathing room. Baylor, Oklahoma and the rest of the Big 12 are all presenting different problems on defense, so where Bachmeier lands now is as much about consistency and matchup difficulty as it is about raw production, and the next round of games could shuffle the order again before long. WVU Fans Finally Get An Early Look At A Meaningful Rotation Battle

The first real chance to see West Virginias new basketball rotation comes Friday night, when the Mountaineers host Glenville State in an exhibition that carries a little extra meaning beyond the usual preseason tune-up. The matchup also arrives with a somber note after the recent passing of West Virginia businessman Ike Morris, a supporter of both programs, adding a layer of local significance to a game that already had the feel of a useful early test.

For WVU, the bigger storyline is on the floor, where Keonte Greybear and Aliou Dioum are expected to log meaningful minutes and give fans an early read on how the rotation might take shape. Exhibition games rarely settle much on their own, but this one should at least offer a glimpse at who is ready to seize a role before the games start counting for real. [Read more 🡒]

WVU Faces Secondary Uncertainty Ahead Of A Crucial TCU Matchup

West Virginias prep for a key TCU matchup has been shaped by the availability report, which puts a few names in question on both sides and leaves the Mountaineers with some late-week uncertainty. Corey McIntyre Jr. is among the WVU players listed as potentially unavailable, while TCU could also be dealing with absences involving Kari Ashley and Jeremy Payne, a reminder that this one may require some last-minute adjustments before kickoff.

There is some relief in Morgantown, though, because Nate Gabriel is expected to play after missing time with injury. Even so, the report points to possible lineup shuffling depending on who is cleared, and that is the sort of wrinkle a staff would rather sort out before facing a conference opponent with plenty on the line.
