WVU Fans Will Be Watching This Roster Update Very Closely

Stay ahead of the game with the latest updates on WVU football's roster reshuffle as fall camp kicks off, revealing intriguing changes in player stats and significant role shifts.

Fall camp is almost here, and with it comes the annual look at how the WVU football roster has changed on paper. The 2026 official roster, updated Friday, July 24, shows some notable weight jumps, almost no movement in the other direction, and - for the first time in this rundown - nobody listed as taller among the returners.

The biggest bulk-up belongs to Malik Agbo, who added 17 pounds and leads the team’s weight gainers. Raymond Kovalesky and Gabe Ryan are right behind him at plus-16, followed by Max Brown at plus-14 and Wilnerson Telemaque at plus-13.

Troy Fischer gained 9 pounds, Trevor Bigelow and Cyrus Traugh each added 8, and ChaMarryus Bomar put on 7. Andre Devine is up 6, while Jayden Bell, Taylor Brown, Keyshawn Robinson and Ashton Woods each gained 5.

Nick taylor added 4, and Armoni Weaver-Bomar is up 3.

Kovalesky’s jump stands out even more because he already made a major position change last season, moving from linebacker to offensive line and adding 42 pounds before putting on another 16. Agbo’s gain also fits the staff’s expectations, since Rich Rodriguez had singled him out as someone who needed to get bigger.

The losses were scarce. In fact, this is the fewest “losers” in the annual update that I can remember, and certainly fewer than last season.

The only notable drop belongs to Caesar, and that appears to line up with the staff viewing him as a pure edge rusher rather than someone who might slide inside. Andreas Hunter is the only returner listed as lighter, down 1 pound.

The most unusual part of the 2026 update is what didn’t happen: no returner is listed as taller than he was in 2025. On the flip side, only one player shrank, which is a sharp contrast from the old days when these roster measurements could be all over the place.

The incoming group tells its own story when compared with recruiting profiles. Aidan Woods is listed at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds on the WVU roster, which is one inch shorter and 53 pounds heavier than his recruiting listing.

Amari Latimer is one inch shorter and one pound heavier at 5-foot-10, 231. Antoine Sharp is one inch shorter at 6-foot-0.

Brad Mossor stayed the same at 5-foot-11, 185.

Cam Dwyer is one inch shorter and 14 pounds heavier at 6-foot-1, 214. Cam Mallory is two inches shorter at 6-foot-0, 295.

Camden Goforth is 10 pounds heavier at 6-foot-4, 305. Carter Kessler is the biggest height mismatch in the group, listed at 6-foot-2 and 250, which is three inches shorter and 15 pounds heavier than his recruiting profile.

Charlie Hanafin is two inches shorter and 8 pounds lighter at 6-foot-0, 181. Chris Talley is two inches taller and 13 pounds heavier at 5-foot-11, 188.

Da'Mare Williams is two inches shorter and four pounds lighter at 6-foot-1, 201. Da'Mun Allen is one pound heavier at 6-foot-3, 201.

Darius Wiley is one inch shorter and 13 pounds heavier at 6-foot-6, 268. Deshawn Woods is 23 pounds heavier at 6-foot-5, 308.

Emory Snyder is one inch shorter and 10 pounds heavier at 6-foot-3, 215. Greg Wilfred is one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier at 5-foot-9, 175.

Jayden Ballard is one inch shorter and 7 pounds heavier at 6-foot-0, 187. Jaylen Thomas is one inch shorter and 2 pounds lighter at 6-foot-2, 308.

Jeremiah Johnson is two inches shorter and 7 pounds heavier at 6-foot-2, 247. John Johnson III is two inches shorter and four pounds heavier at 5-foot-10, 184.

Jonas Muya is 13 pounds heavier at 6-foot-7, 293. Jyron Hughley is one inch taller and 15 pounds heavier at 6-foot-2, 195.

Kade Bush is the same at 6-foot-4, 220. Kedrick Triplett is two inches shorter at 6-foot-1.

Keon Hutchins is two inches shorter and 10 pounds heavier at 6-foot-0, 180. Kevin Brown is one inch taller and 26 pounds heavier at 6-foot-6, 296.

KJ Henson is one inch taller and 5 pounds lighter at 6-foot-4, 284. Lamarcus Dillard is one inch taller and 20 pounds lighter at 6-foot-2, 290.

Landon Drumm is one inch taller and two pounds lighter at 6-foot-3, 188. Lawrence Autry is one inch shorter and 10 pounds heavier at 5-foot-10, 220.

Makhi Boone is one pound lighter at 6-foot-0, 171. Malachi Thompson is 8 pounds lighter at 6-foot-4, 192.

Martavious Boswell is one inch shorter and 9 pounds heavier at 5-foot-9, 179. Matt Sieg is one inch taller and one pound lighter at 5-foot-10, 189.

Miles Khatri is 7 pounds lighter at 6-foot-0, 208. Noah Tishendorf is 13 pounds heavier at 6-foot-3, 253.

Rayshawn Reynolds is one pound heavier at 6-foot-3, 186. Rhett Morris is one inch shorter and 12 pounds heavier at 6-foot-2, 302.

Rickey Giles is one inch shorter and 10 pounds heavier at 5-foot-10, 195. Robert Oliver is 5 pounds lighter at 6-foot-2, 180.

Sam Hamilton is 15 pounds heavier at 6-foot-4, 245. Simaj Hill is one inch shorter and two pounds heavier at 6-foot-0, 182.

SirPaul Cheeks is not on the roster. Tim Roberson is one inch shorter and 3 pounds heavier at 5-foot-11, 178.

Trey McGlothlin is not on the roster. Vincent Smith is one inch shorter and 18 pounds heavier at 6-foot-1, 218.

Wyatt Brown is one inch taller and 17 pounds heavier at 6-foot-3, 202. Xavier Anderson is 28 pounds heavier at 6-foot-6, 213.

Yendor Mack is one inch shorter and 15 pounds lighter at 6-foot-2, 280.

The biggest eyebrow-raiser in that group is Kessler’s three-inch drop, which is the kind of number that jumps off the page immediately. On the weight side, the linemen and tight ends adding 10 to 20 pounds looks pretty routine, but Aidan Woods’ 53-pound jump is the outlier that really stands out.

WVU Suddenly Has A Troubling New Question At Receiver

Prince Strachan arrived at West Virginia with a track record that made him an intriguing addition to the receiver room, and his path to Morgantown already included a stop at USC after a season-ending injury. Before that, he spent two seasons at Boise State and showed enough big-play ability there to suggest he could give the Mountaineers a different kind of threat on the outside.

The problem is that his momentum has been interrupted again. Strachan had turned heads in spring practice and looked like a player who could factor into the offense right away, but another injury has complicated the picture and left West Virginia with a new concern at a position that was supposed to be getting deeper. Cam Cook Is Loving What Latimer And Boswell Bring To WVU's Backfield

Cam Cook has spent enough time around West Virginias backfield to know the Mountaineers have more than one option behind him, and he likes what he sees from both Amari Latimer and Martavious Boswell. Latimer, a true freshman, has already earned attention for the way he carries himself in workouts, while Boswell brings the kind of burst that can change the feel of a running back room in a hurry.

For Cook, the appeal is not just talent, but how the pieces fit together as WVU tries to build depth and keep everyone on the same page. Latimers early maturity and Boswells speed give the Mountaineers a different look in the backfield, and both figures figure to matter as the season takes shape. [Read more 🡒]
