The West Virginia Mountaineers are gearing up for an exciting spring with a revamped receiver lineup. With 16 receivers on the 2026 roster, 14 are already on campus, making this a crucial period for the team to gel. This influx of talent is not just a luxury-it's a necessity.
Out of these 16, a whopping 13 are new faces, bringing fresh energy and potential to the squad. The returning trio includes junior Cyrus Traugh, who started in the FCS and redshirted last season, redshirt freshman Armoni Weaver, who saw action in two games, and senior Jaden Bray, who is looking to bounce back after two injury-plagued seasons.
Head coach Rich Rodriguez emphasized the importance of both depth and talent in the offseason. "You'd like to have six or seven that you're able to roll in there," Rodriguez noted.
He expressed confidence in the group, including the promising freshmen recruits, stating, "I feel good about where they're at. And I don't think unless-knock on wood-somebody gets hurt that we need to go out and get any more.
I think we're pretty good at receiver."
This approach highlights the Mountaineers' strategy to build a versatile and resilient receiving corps, ready to tackle the challenges of the upcoming season. With a blend of new talent and returning players eager to prove themselves, West Virginia's receiving unit is set to make some noise.
