EA Sports’ College Football 27 is out early for MVP+ members, and West Virginia sophomore quarterback Scotty Fox Jr. is already one of the game’s most eye-catching misfires.
While checking the Mountaineers’ roster, the first thing that stands out about Fox isn’t his rating or his arm. It’s his appearance.
The in-game version looks so far off that it prompted a double-take, with the reaction summed up like this: “Why in the world is a former legendary Pittsburgh Steeler safety listed as the No. 2 QB on WVU's roster?”
The mismatch is hard to miss, and Fox’s avatar has quickly become one of the more obvious image-and-likeness mistakes in the game. The look is so off that even the haircut drew attention, with the post noting, “like the new haircut 😂😂@EASPORTSCollege pic.twitter.com/4nALjBbyEe”
Fox isn’t the only player whose appearance missed the mark. Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson shows up with the same long blonde hair treatment, and his in-game look was called out just as quickly: “Avery Johnson will apparently have black hair in EA 27😭 pic.twitter.com/vC6CY4Kl88”
There are a few other Mountaineers who don’t quite resemble their real-life selves either, but none are as glaring as Fox. Even so, his numbers are solid enough for a player who had only a handful of starts as a true freshman with a poor supporting cast in 2025. Fox comes in with an overall rating of 73, along with 82 speed and 83 throw power.

Another Former Mountaineer Just Landed A Summer Shot Fans Will Love
Toby Okani has found another familiar stop in the Knicks system, landing on New Yorks Summer League roster after spending time with the organizations G League affiliate. For West Virginia fans, the appeal is obvious: hell be sharing the stage with former Mountaineer teammate Treysen Eaglestaff, giving the summer roster a little extra Morgantown flavor.
Okani also brings some recent NBA experience into the mix, having appeared in six games for the Memphis Grizzlies on a 10-day contract last season. The Knicks open Summer League play July 10 against the San Antonio Spurs, and for a player trying to keep building momentum, that first run could matter a lot. [Read more 🡒]
Former WVU Guard Erik Stevenson Gets Another Shot To Break Through
Erik Stevensons pro path has taken him through multiple G League stops and overseas clubs since his West Virginia days, and now the former Mountaineers guard is getting another chance to put himself in front of NBA decision-makers. This summer, he has landed with the Denver Nuggets Summer League team, a familiar kind of proving ground for a player still trying to turn steady production into a lasting foothold.
Stevenson has shown he can score at the G League level, and his best stretch came with the Capital City Go-Go, where he put together the kind of season that keeps a player on the radar. He also came close to an NBA breakthrough with a 10-day deal from the Washington Wizards, only to leave without getting into a game, which makes this next run in Las Vegas feel like another important checkpoint in a career that is still searching for its first real opening.
