West Virginia football is almost back on the field, and Wednesday, August 5th, marks the first official step into fall camp for the Mountaineers.
While the practice schedule itself won’t be posted, there is plenty lined up for fans and media to keep track of through August, starting with a steady run of media availability sessions featuring Rich Rodriguez, Zac Alley, assistant coaches, and select players. Those sessions will stretch across the opening stretch of camp, giving the first real look at how the new season is taking shape.
The biggest regular touchpoint will be Rich Rodriguez’s weekly press conference, which stays on Tuesdays this season. Defensive coordinator Zac Alley is also expected to speak every Tuesday, making that the final weekly window to hear from coaches and players before game day arrives.
The setup is a little different than it used to be, when the coach’s show on Thursdays gave reporters another crack at injury updates and last-minute details. That changed because the Big 12 now requires injury reports to be submitted to the league office throughout the week.
The Rich Rodriguez Show will also be a weekly fixture at Kegler’s Sports Bar & Grill from 6-8 p.m. For the second straight year, it will air every Monday except for the open week on October 26th. Before the 2025 season, the show ran on Thursdays, but now it serves more as a look back at the previous game and what the staff learned from it two days earlier.
There are also roster questions to watch as camp gets going. WVU is not expected to release a depth chart until probably game day, so projections will continue to be updated along the way.
The next one is set to come out on the eve of fall camp, Tuesday, with any changes tied to additions from the recent ruling giving those in the class of 2022 a fifth year. The final projection will be published the weekend before Week 1.
Fans looking for more coverage will have a few regular options throughout August and the season. West Virginia On SI will post new episodes of Between The Eers every Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with updates on the roster, position battles, and predictions. Former WVU running back Eugene Napoleon will join for the Walk Thru GameDay Show on Thursday mornings during the season, and he’ll also be part of the Mountaineer Postgame Show right after each game.
Beyond that, the coverage will keep coming. Several stories are set to go live every day during fall camp, giving fans a constant stream of updates as WVU moves deeper into August.
