West Virginia University is off to an impressive start this season, boasting a 5-1 record after securing their second three-game series victory. Steve Sabins' team traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia, to face Liberty, and they delivered a standout performance, clinching two wins, both via shutouts. This strong showing not only kept the Mountaineers in the major polls but even nudged them up in one.

In Baseball America's Top 25, WVU held steady at No. 20.

The series against Liberty was marked by dominant pitching, highlighted by a commanding 12-0 victory in the Friday opener.

Standout Performer

Graduate infielder Brodie Kresser was on fire, going 3-for-3 with two doubles on Friday. He finished the series 6-for-9, boasting a .667 batting average, with a walk and just one strikeout.

In the D1Baseball Top 25, the Mountaineers climbed one spot, advancing from No. 25 to No. 24 after their successful series against the Flames.

Looking ahead, West Virginia is set to host their home opener on Wednesday, with Ohio coming to town for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
