Former West Virginia coach Bob Huggins is putting his Morgantown home on the market, according to former WVU forward John Flowers, whose wife works as a real estate agent.
The house is listed at $2,195,000. It’s a five-bedroom, seven-bath property that measures 8,818 square feet.
Huggins, whose famous stool was once a familiar sight at Hope Coliseum, has deep ties to West Virginia that go well beyond his time on the sideline. He grew up listening to Mountaineer games on the radio while sitting in his grandfather’s lap, and he has said more than once how early that connection took hold.
He got to live out that bond in full, first as a player and then as the program’s head coach from 2007-23. During that run, he led West Virginia back to the Final Four for the first time since Jerry West and Co. did it, and he also guided the Mountaineers to the Big East championship in 2010.
For a lot of Mountaineer fans, Huggins checked just about every box. He won, he understood what the state meant, and he gave back along the way. Even after his resignation, he has stayed connected to the program and continued his annual Fish Fry to raise money for cancer care.
The relationship between Huggins and the university has been complicated by how things ended, which helps explain why he has not been honored by West Virginia yet. Still, the case for that recognition remains clear: he is a Mountaineer through and through.
