Team Vince Takes 2026 Rising Stars Title, Wizards’ Kyshawn George Makes His Mark
The 2026 NBA Rising Stars Challenge delivered its usual mix of highlight-reel plays, up-and-coming talent, and a glimpse into the league’s future-and this year, it ended with Team Vince hoisting the trophy. For Washington Wizards fans, there was something extra to cheer about, as rookie guard Kyshawn George played a role in both of Team Vince’s wins on Friday night.
In the semifinal round, Team Vince squared off against Team T-Mac in a fast-paced, 41-36 victory. George chipped in 4 points, doing a little bit of everything on both ends.
But the spotlight belonged to VJ Edgecombe, who poured in 17 points and set the tone for Team Vince with his aggressive scoring and confident shot-making. On the other side, the Wizards were well-represented too-Bub Carrington added 2 points, and forward Tre Johnson led Team T-Mac with 8.
The second semifinal saw Team Melo edge out Team Austin, 40-34, setting up a final showdown between Team Vince and Team Melo.
In the championship game, defense tightened up and every possession mattered. Team Vince emerged with a narrow 25-24 win, with George adding 2 more points and again showing his ability to contribute in a team setting. Edgecombe led the way once more, scoring 6 points and earning MVP honors for his consistent impact across both games.
For George, it’s a solid showing on a national stage-something that should give Wizards fans a reason to feel optimistic. He didn’t dominate the stat sheet, but he played his role, stayed active, and helped his team win. For a young player still finding his footing in the league, that’s exactly the kind of experience you want to see.
With the Rising Stars event wrapped up, that’s likely the last we’ll see of Wizards players during All-Star Weekend. But for George, Carrington, and Johnson, this was a chance to show they belong among the league’s most promising young talents-and they made the most of it.
