The doubles matches set the tone, with the Huskies dominating across all courts, each pair securing a 6-1 victory. This early momentum carried into the singles competition, where Washington continued to assert their dominance.
Alexia Jacobs led the charge at No. 3 singles, swiftly defeating Martina Puvill 6-0, 6-1. Meanwhile, Jermine Sherif, ranked No. 124 nationally, showcased her skills with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yura Nakagawa, putting the Huskies up 3-0.
The clincher came from No. 90 Marie Weissheim, who secured the fourth point with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph against Chisato Kanemaki.
Carina Syrtveit added to the tally with a solid performance against Ava-Monet Sycamore, winning 6-2, 6-3. The top two singles spots provided some drama, with WSU's Maxine Murphy initially challenging No.
65 Reece Carter by taking the first set. However, Carter rebounded impressively to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
The marquee matchup saw Washington's Erika Matsuda, ranked No. 72, face off against Eva Alvarez Sande. In a nail-biting contest, Matsuda edged out Alvarez Sande in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7), capping off the Huskies' clean sweep.
The Cougars will look to regroup as they prepare to face No. 31 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Seattle.
