WSU Swimming Shines with Record-Breaking Performances at Mountain West Championships
In a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, Washington State Swimming made waves at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston. Day two saw the Cougars not only clinch the 200 free relay but also record seven WSU Top-10 marks, cementing their place as a formidable force in collegiate swimming.
The 200 free relay team, featuring sophomore Darcy Revitt, freshman Barbora Mileisyte, sophomore Issabelle Parrish, and senior Addyson Lewis, delivered a standout performance. Their school-record time of 1:28.52 secured the event win for WSU for the second consecutive year, a testament to their relentless dedication and synergy. By the end of the day, the Cougars had positioned themselves third among 11 competing teams.
WSU's prowess was evident across various events. With four conference titles already under their belt, the Cougars are making a statement. Individual victories included Darcy Revitt in the 50 Free and Emily Lundgren in the 200 IM, along with triumphs in the 400 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.
The morning prelims set the stage for a day of remarkable performances. In the 100 fly, Parrish clocked a 53.82, earning the seventh-best mark in WSU history, while Lewis and senior Anna Rauchholz also secured spots in the Top-10.
Sophomore Tatum Janning impressed in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.79, marking the seventh-best in school history. Revitt continued her streak in the 200 free, posting a 1:47.77 for another seventh-best school mark.
As the evening finals unfolded, Parrish shone in the 100 fly, finishing fifth with a 53.66, now the fifth-fastest time in program history. Lewis claimed eighth in the same event.
Janning's evening performance in the 400 IM saw her achieve a 4:16.03, the fourth-best time in WSU's records. Revitt and senior Lauren Wille showcased their talent in the 200 free finals, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.
Capping off another successful night, the 200 free relay team once again broke records with their 1:28.52 finish, underscoring their dominance and teamwork.
As the championships progress, anticipation builds for Friday's events, which include the 200 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Medley Relay, and 800 Free Relay. With prelims kicking off at 8:30 a.m.
