Twelve Washington State Cougars are still grinding through pro baseball, with Kyle Manzardo and Ryan Walker both holding spots in the majors while the rest of the group is spread across the minors and independent ball.
Manzardo has logged 87 games for the Cleveland Guardians this season and is hitting .215 with seven doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 30 RBI and 32 runs scored. Walker has been a steady arm for the San Francisco Giants, making 27 appearances and piling up three saves, three holds and 19 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.
Ian Hamilton is now in the Atlanta Braves system after spending the last three seasons with the Yankees. He has made four big league appearances for Atlanta, striking out four in 4.2 innings, and has also worked 22 times for Triple-A Gwinnett, where he is 2-0 with four saves, two holds, a 3.04 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.
Brandon White has split his season between Double-A and Triple-A in the Miami Marlins organization. He went 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 33 innings over 15 appearances, including one start, at Double-A before moving up to Triple-A Jacksonville in late May. In Triple-A, White has eight seven starts and gone 3-3 with 47 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.
Jonah Advincula’s season got off to a delayed start after a spring training injury, but he made his way back through a rehab assignment in the Arizona Cactus League and into Double-A Akron. In nine games there, he has gone 9-for-28 with three doubles, three home runs, four stolen bases and 10 runs scored.
Sam Brown has settled into Double-A for the Washington Nationals, where he has played 56 games and hit .238 with 49 hits, 11 doubles, three home runs, 17 RBI and 19 runs scored. Brown came over in a trade last July from the Los Angeles Angels.
Zane Mills, who joined the Chicago Cubs organization this offseason, made one appearance for Double-A Knoxville before a season-ending injury cut things short. He struck out four in three innings in that outing.
Dakota Hawkins has moved around the Mets system this year, appearing at three levels with 19 total appearances and seven starts. He has one outing each at Double-A and Triple-A, then settled in at High-A Brooklyn, where he is 3-0 with two holds, a 2.54 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 39 innings.
Will Cresswell, drafted in the 18th round by the Toronto Blue Jays last summer, also spent part of the spring with Great Britain at the World Baseball Classic. In 34 games this season, the catcher has 23 hits, three doubles, one home run, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored.
Connor Wilford’s path has included seven starts for Lexington in the American Independent League before the Seattle Mariners bought his contract. Since joining the Mariners organization, he has thrown five scoreless innings with four strikeouts in his first career start, picked up a win with three innings of relief and then moved to High-A Inland Empire, where he started and struck out six in four innings. Across five appearances in the organization, he has four starts, a 2-1 record, a 2.45 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 22 innings.
A.J. Block has kept pitching after finishing last season at Double-A with Los Angeles.
He worked 14 games for Durango in the Mexican League, striking out 14 in 8.2 innings, then signed with the Lake Country DockHounds in the American Association Independent League in Wisconsin. There, he has appeared in six games with five starts and struck out 26 over 24 innings.
Morrow has been swinging it well for Lincoln, Nebraska, batting .365 in 28 games with six doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI and 21 runs scored.
