Washington State Women's Rowing Wraps Up San Diego Crew Classic with Strong Performances

In the sunny setting of San Diego, the Washington State women's rowing team capped off their weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic with a series of competitive fifth-place finishes in Sunday's Grand Finals. The Cougars showed grit and determination as they navigated the waters against some of the nation's top teams.

Head Coach Jane LaRiviere reflected positively on the experience, saying, "It's great having a couple races under our belts. Overall, we executed the race plan more effectively today, and we have lots of good stuff to work on moving forward. Go Cougs!"

The action kicked off with the Cougs' 1V8 shell competing in the Champ Women's Collegiate 8+. They clocked in at 7:08.75, just behind UCLA's fourth-place time of 7:02.48. The powerhouse teams from Texas, Washington, and California took the top three spots, with Texas leading the pack at 6:32.28.

In the Women's Collegiate V 4+ event, Washington State's 1V8 again claimed fifth with a time of 8:26.61. Texas, Washington, and California once more dominated the leaderboard, showcasing their strength and depth in the field.

The day wrapped up with the Cougars' 2V 8+ crew finishing fifth, clocking in at 7:34.58, ahead of San Diego but behind the top-four finishers led by Texas at 6:50.11. The consistent performance across events highlights the team's potential and sets the stage for future improvements.
