Washington Recruiting Momentum Just Got A Boost Fans Will Notice

As the Huskies prepare for a crucial game against Iowa, star QB commit Blake Roskopfs All-American Bowl invitation highlights both the team's recruiting successes and challenges.

Washington’s recruiting board got a boost this week when quarterback commit Blake Roskopf earned an invitation to the Navy All-American Bowl.

Roskopf, a four-star passer from Desert Edge High School in Arizona, has put together a strong season and now has a major national showcase on the way. He has thrown for 1,748 yards and 18 touchdowns against six interceptions, and his frame stands out just as much as the production. Listed at 6-foot-6 and around 225 pounds, he brings the kind of size that fits the next level, along with enough mobility to keep drives alive when needed.

For Husky fans, the appeal is obvious. Roskopf is viewed as a player who should have a chance to compete for playing time next year, and the All-American Bowl invite only adds to the excitement around his future in Montlake.

There was also a near miss on the recruiting trail involving one of Roskopf’s teammates. Washington had been in strong position for four-star edge Jalanie George, another member of the 2028 class, and a commitment had seemed close. But a recent visit to Wisconsin, along with a large NIL offer from the Badgers, changed the picture and sent George to Madison instead.

That leaves Washington still without a 2028 commitment. It’s early, so that alone isn’t a concern, but the Huskies will need to start winning more of those head-to-head battles if they want to keep climbing in the B1G. More additions are expected toward the end of the year.

Washington Let A Statement Win Slip Away At USC

Washington had enough going early at USC to make the trip feel like it could become a statement night, but the Huskies could not sustain it. They grabbed a lead, flashed a few strong individual efforts and made the Trojans work, yet the game kept turning on self-inflicted problems as penalties and inconsistent offense undercut the best stretches.

USC was ready to take advantage every time Washington slipped, and the missed chances piled up as the Huskies struggled to find any rhythm when it mattered most. What had looked like a chance to leave Los Angeles with a defining road win instead became another reminder of how slim the margin is when turnovers and penalties start deciding possession by possession. Oregon's Next Big Ten Stretch Suddenly Hinges On One Huge Question

Oregon heads into its bye week at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten after the kind of win that can reset a season, knocking off USC in a result that immediately changed the mood around the Ducks. The bigger storyline, though, is at quarterback, where Dante Moore left the game after taking a hit and backup Dylan Raiola stepped in and handled the offense well enough to keep Oregon moving at a key moment.

What happens next for the Ducks now rests on Moores health and how long this stretch becomes for the backup. Oregon is sorting through the fallout from the concussion, and with the teams Big Ten start already off to a strong opening, the uncertainty under center adds a layer of intrigue to the upcoming prediction-heavy portion of the schedule. Washington Still Has One O-Line Problem Heading Into USC

Washingtons offensive line is still carrying one lingering question as it heads into its first road game of the season at USC. Fourth-year center Landen Hatchett, who has not played this season while working back from wrist surgeries, is now listed as doubtful, leaving the Huskies with another week of uncertainty in the middle of the line.

The setback matters because Washington has already leaned on Kolt Dieterich at center in Hatchetts absence, and the run game has not looked as sharp as it needs to. Hatchett was expected back later in the season, but that timeline has been pushed back for now, leaving the Huskies to keep sorting out a spot that has become one of the more important issues on the roster.
