Washington is already making noise in the 2028 cycle, and one of the biggest names on its board is now trending heavily toward Montlake.
The Huskies have been a real player on the recruiting trail since Jedd Fisch took over, and the results are starting to stack up. Washington’s 2026 class sits 12th nationally per 247Sports, with several true freshmen expected to factor in right away. The 2027 group is in good shape too, checking in at No. 24 in the nation in the 247Sports composite.
Now the focus has shifted to 2028, where Washington has been active with blue-chip targets on both sides of the ball. One of the most important is five-star edge rusher Anthony “Tank” George, and the latest projection points straight to the Huskies.
On3 Sports’ prediction model gives Washington a 94.8% chance to land George, and 247Sports currently lists the Huskies as the only school marked “warm” for him. George also called Washington director of sports science Ben Creamer a “secret weapon” and a “guy that can take (him) to the next level.”
George plays at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., and Washington already has two teammates headed to Seattle in the 2027 class: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defender is ranked 21st overall in the 247Sports Composite, fifth among edge rushers and second in Arizona. Rivals’ Industry Rankings has him even higher, slotting him ninth overall, second among edge rushers and first in Arizona.
It’s still early, and plenty of major programs figure to stay involved if George does eventually pick Washington. But if the Huskies can hold onto this one, it would be a major early win for their 2028 class.
While that recruitment plays out, Washington is back to work for the 2026-27 season. Fall camp began Thursday and will run through August.
The Huskies open the season against Washington State at 1:00 p.m. PT on Sept. 6 at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

Isaiah Ward has spent the offseason trying to put himself in position to be a steady presence on Washingtons edge, and the fifth-year defender sounds as if he has embraced the work that comes with that role. Ward spoke highly of the Huskies coaches and teammates, and his comments around the program suggested a player who feels comfortable in Seattle and eager to be part of a defense that believes it took steps forward.
The bigger question for Washington is how much Ward can hold up over the course of a full season, especially with the pass rush needing reliable production from veteran pieces.
