The Washington Huskies are wasting no time building what could be a powerhouse 2027 recruiting class-and the early returns are already turning heads.
As of early February, the Huskies have secured four commitments from the '27 cycle, headlined by four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney. He's joined by a trio of three-star talents: wideout Braylon Pope, athlete Maurice Williams, and linebacker Titus Osterman. It’s a strong foundation, and Washington’s staff is clearly pushing to stack even more blue-chip talent on top of it.
The next targets? A dynamic duo out of Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California: quarterback Caden Jones and cornerback Evan Mack-both four-star prospects with national attention.
Jones, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound signal caller, has been on Washington’s radar for a while. The Huskies extended an offer back in June 2024, and they’ve stayed in the mix despite intense competition.
He’s a true dual-sport standout, also holding a basketball offer from UW head coach Danny Sprinkle. On the football side, the list of schools chasing Jones reads like a who's who of college football: Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and many more-39 total offers, according to 247Sports.
Ranked as the No. 23 quarterback and No. 33 overall prospect in California for the 2027 class, Jones brings a high-ceiling skill set that has drawn attention from coast to coast. His athletic versatility and arm talent make him a compelling fit for a modern offense, and the Huskies are clearly making a strong push to bring him north.
Then there’s Evan Mack, another 6-foot-3 athlete who’s making waves on both sides of the ball. Listed as a cornerback, Mack is ranked the 29th-best at his position nationally and the No. 24 overall player in California. He already holds 21 offers, with heavyweights like USC, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and UCLA in the mix.
Washington offered Mack back in May 2025, and he made the trip up to Seattle for an unofficial visit in October. The Huskies are clearly serious about him-and for good reason.
According to national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Mack is the kind of two-way athlete who can change a game. A former basketball standout, Mack has transitioned into a legit football prospect with high-level upside.
He’s long, fluid, and explosive-capable of locking down receivers at the line or flipping the field as a pass-catcher. His instincts and physicality stand out, and he’s not shy about delivering hits or going up to win contested balls.
Whether he ends up at corner or receiver, he’s the type of athlete who can thrive at the next level-and just about every major program knows it.
If Washington can land even one of these two Southern California standouts, it would be a major win. But if they manage to pull off the double? That could be a defining moment for this 2027 class.
Coming off a 2026 recruiting cycle that ranked 12th nationally, the Huskies are clearly aiming even higher this time around. With a strong early core in place and high-level targets still in play, the pieces are there for Washington to build something special.
Stay tuned-this class is just getting started.
