Jedd Fisch Addresses Michigan Coaching Rumors, Keeps Focus on Washington Huskies
As Michigan football begins the search for its next head coach following the firing of Sherrone Moore, one name has quickly surged to the top of the rumor mill: Jedd Fisch. And for good reason. Fisch has built a reputation as one of the most respected minds in college football, with a résumé that speaks volumes-from revitalizing Arizona to now leading a strong Washington Huskies program.
Naturally, when a high-profile job like Michigan opens up, a coach of Fisch’s caliber is going to draw attention. His track record in team development, player progression, and culture-building has made him a hot commodity. So it's no surprise that the Wolverines are reportedly keeping a close eye on him.
But if you were hoping for a dramatic twist or a hint that he’s packing his bags for Ann Arbor, Fisch isn’t playing into the hype.

“I’m fully focused on our team,” Fisch said. “I think our team worked really hard this whole week.
We all gave everything we had, and we played at a very high level because of that. And, you know, that’s all I would say on that.”
That’s a classic coach response-direct, measured, and laser-focused on the task at hand. While he didn’t outright shut down the rumors, Fisch made it clear that his current priority is the Washington Huskies, not any potential job openings elsewhere.
And really, why wouldn’t it be? Fisch’s Huskies just delivered a dominant performance against Boise State, the kind of win that reinforces why his name is trending in coaching circles. His team looked sharp, disciplined, and well-prepared-hallmarks of a program that reflects its head coach’s identity.
It’s also worth noting that Fisch is currently under a sizable contract with Washington: a 7-year deal worth $54 million, averaging about $7.75 million annually. While that doesn’t quite place him in the $10 million-a-year club with the top-tier coaches, performances like today’s-and the continued success of his program-could prompt Washington to revisit that number sooner rather than later.
For now, though, Fisch seems content where he is. He’s not entertaining the noise, not feeding the speculation. He’s coaching his team, and coaching them well.
