Happy Sunday, Husky fans! The University of Washington is celebrating a big win off the field today with the commitment of three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagaleli from Mater Dei High School in California. Uiagaleli, ranked as the 86th best defensive lineman in the 2027 class by 247sports, chose the Huskies over offers from powerhouse programs like Miami, Michigan, and UCLA.
Last season, Uiagaleli showcased his skills with 28 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. At 6'3" and around 240 pounds, he's a versatile player who can line up on the edge or develop into a solid interior presence. The Huskies have been making waves in the Trinity League, and Uiagaleli's commitment is a testament to their recruiting prowess.
If the Uiagaleli name rings a bell, it should. His older brother, Tai’ta’i, was a key contributor for the Huskies last season, adding a family legacy to the team’s defensive line. With Matamatagi's addition, the Huskies are building a formidable front that fans should be excited about.
