Danny Sprinkle has taken Washington’s recruiting push overseas.
The Huskies men’s basketball coach is in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as he works to land guard Urban Kroflic, according to a post on X from LayUp Hoops (@Layup_Scouting). Washington’s interest in Kroflic has been out there for months, but the pursuit appears to be heating up now with Sprinkle on the ground.
That matters because the Huskies have one opening left on the roster. Washington currently has 14 players, which leaves the team one spot shy of capacity as it builds toward the 2026-27 season.
Kroflic would bring real versatility to the backcourt. He’s described as a guard who can handle some secondary playmaking duties, work off the ball, and attack the rim. At 6-foot-6 and 200 pounds, he also has the size to defend on the wing, and he’s shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Washington’s roster already has a strong international flavor, and Kroflic would add to that group if he commits. The Huskies have already brought in Brazilian forward Wini Braga, Australian guard Tristan Devers and Croation forward Boris Tisma this offseason, while Nikola Dzepina joined the team last winter.
Dzepina is also overseas right now, competing for Serbia in the FIBA Eurobasket tournament. Through three games in the group stage, he has averaged more than 17 points in efficient fashion.
Back in Seattle, Washington’s backcourt is taking shape with a mix of returners and newcomers. Junior Wesley Yates III is expected back after an injury-hit 2025-26 season, sophomore BJ Roy is also returning, and senior Ryan Beasley arrives from San Francisco to take over at point guard. Devers, meanwhile, comes in after a stint in Australia’s National Basketball League.
If Sprinkle closes on Kroflic, it would give the Huskies another international piece and fill the final spot on the roster.
