Stefon Diggs hasn’t been in Washington nearly as long as most of his new teammates, but he already sounds like he knows exactly what this Commanders season needs to be about.
The veteran receiver signed with the Commanders in early August, finally putting an end to the ongoing chatter about Brandon Aiyuk. Diggs is older than Aiyuk, but he’s also been more dependable this calendar year and has clearly kept himself in NFL shape.
On Wednesday, Diggs talked about where things stand with the 2026 Commanders after a camp that was shorter for him than it was for everyone else. “I feel good; it’s been a good camp.
It was a shorter camp for me. (Well, only by a single week, as Diggs was signed one week after everyone reported).
I’m excited for the guys; they put in a lot of work. They did a great job of trying to catch me up to speed for the most part.”
That extra week out didn’t seem to bother him much. Diggs sounded comfortable with what he’s seen so far, especially when it comes to the group around him.
“It’s just a fun team, a young team. Being around the guys, spending a lot of time with them, you’re getting to know them and learn them.
They are fun to be around,” expressed Diggs.
He also didn’t flinch when asked about the offense’s ceiling for Sunday. “S***, I don’t want to put a ceiling on it.”
Even so, he knows the opener won’t come easy against the Eagles. “We are going to have to execute at a high level.
It’s going to take a lot of attention to detail.”
Diggs gave his new teammates credit for the work they’ve already put in over the past several weeks. “They’ve been putting in a lot of time over 40 days.
I didn’t do the 40 days. But I can see they have put in a lot of work up to this point.
It’s going to come down to execution.”
As for his own target this season, the former Maryland Terrapin and entering his 12th NFL season kept it simple: “Just winning, that's all I want to do."
If that’s the standard Diggs carries into the year, Commanders fans will be more than fine with it.
