Seahawks Sign Former Commanders Cornerback to Bolster Their Defense

Rising talent Noah Igbinoghene joins the reigning Seahawks as he looks to reclaim his form and bolster their defense.

In a move that could bolster their secondary, the Seattle Seahawks have secured former Washington Commanders cornerback Noah Igbinoghene on a one-year deal. Igbinoghene, originally a first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2020, is looking to make a fresh start after spending the last two seasons in Washington.

During his time with the Commanders, Igbinoghene saw action in 32 games, starting 12 of them. He racked up 90 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and 17 passes defensed.

His 2024 season was particularly noteworthy as he played a key role in Washington's secondary, participating in 76% of the defensive snaps. However, 2025 saw a dip in his playing time, with his participation dropping to 37%.

Before his stint in Washington, Igbinoghene spent three seasons with the Dolphins and had a brief stop with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. His 2024 season under Dan Quinn in Washington marked his most active year on defense, with 818 snaps. Last year, he logged 373 snaps, the second-highest of his career.

The reduction in his playing time last season can be attributed to the presence of veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones, who has now also moved on, signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Meanwhile, the Commanders have brought in cornerback Amik Robertson as free agency kicked off.

For the Seahawks, adding Igbinoghene could prove to be a savvy move as they look to strengthen their defensive backfield. As he joins Seattle, Igbinoghene will aim to recapture the form that made him a first-round pick and contribute to the Seahawks' defensive efforts in the upcoming season.
