The Washington Commanders are cleaning house after a rough 2025 campaign, parting ways with both offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. While Whitt’s exit wasn’t a shock, Kingsbury’s departure raised a few eyebrows-especially considering the offensive strides the team made under his watch in 2024.
But Kingsbury might not be on the sidelines for long. He’s already drawing interest from multiple teams, and his latest interview could be a particularly intriguing fit: the Tennessee Titans.
On Monday, Kingsbury met with the Titans to discuss their offensive coordinator opening. It’s a role that mirrors the one he just held in Washington in more ways than one.
For starters, Tennessee just brought in Robert Saleh as their new head coach-a defensive-minded leader, much like Dan Quinn was in D.C. That dynamic worked well for Kingsbury once before, and the Titans are clearly hoping lightning might strike twice.
There’s also the quarterback situation. Tennessee’s young signal-caller, Cam Ward, brings a dual-threat skillset to the table that’s reminiscent of Jayden Daniels-who just happened to win Offensive Rookie of the Year under Kingsbury’s guidance.
That connection alone gives the Titans a compelling reason to explore the fit. Daniels thrived in Kingsbury’s system when healthy, showcasing the kind of explosive playmaking that Tennessee has sorely lacked in recent seasons.
Now, it’s true that Washington’s offense regressed in 2025, but context matters. Injuries piled up, and even the sharpest play-callers can only do so much when key pieces are missing.
Still, the numbers from 2024 speak volumes: fifth in total yards per game, sixth in points per game, and 12th in passing yards. That kind of production doesn’t happen by accident.
Meanwhile, the Titans have been stuck in the mud offensively for two straight years. Bringing in someone like Kingsbury-who’s proven he can elevate young quarterbacks and scheme creatively-could be a game-changer. Tennessee is also reportedly interviewing Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich, so they’re clearly casting a wide net in search of answers.
Kingsbury has also spoken with the Ravens this offseason, so he’s not short on options. But if the Titans are serious about unlocking Cam Ward’s potential and turning around their stagnant offense, Kingsbury might just be the guy to do it.
