Jayden Daniels is bringing his Community Day back to San Bernardino.
The Washington Commanders quarterback will host the second annual event in his hometown on July 18, starting at 9 a.m. PST. Daniels and his foundation first put on Community Day last July, and the goal remains the same: hand out backpacks and school supplies to kids in the area.
Speaking with local news in San Bernardino, Daniels said this year’s version will be even bigger.
"Yeah, second annual, it's gonna be bigger and better this year," Daniels replies. "Last year was kind of trial-and-error stuff, but this year, everybody in the area [can] come out and support, go out, give back, and have fun.
We'll be raffling off some things, iPads and things of that nature, and just go out there and show love to the community. Bring everybody together and show everybody around the world what San Bernardino does and what it's meant to me.
Just go out there and have fun, interact with the kids for a couple of hours, and make sure everybody is out there getting ready for school and getting prepared for the school year."
Daniels also sounded fired up when the conversation turned to football and the season ahead.
"I'm actually, I'm very excited," He says. "New year, new opportunities.
The team that we have, I'm super excited for the team that we have, and how we looked in offseason programs. It should be a fun year.
You know, every year is a new year, but obviously, I love this game. I have a very strong passion for it, and I'm ready to get back out there and try to win some football games, score some touchdowns on Sundays."
Daniels has a big season in front of him, and what happens this year figures to shape the rest of his career. For now, though, San Bernardino locals have a chance to meet him, take part in the giveaways, and help kick off the school year at Community Day.
