Former Commanders Starter Hits Cruel Setback After Fresh Start

After being unexpectedly released by the Commanders and finding new success with the Chargers, Tyler Biadasz's NFL revival faces an uncertain future following a serious knee injury.

Tyler Biadasz had barely started turning the page when the NFL hit him with a gut punch.

After Washington moved on from its starting center in one of Adam Peters’ most debated offseason decisions, Biadasz landed quickly with the Los Angeles Chargers and wasted no time making himself useful. He came in on a multi-year deal and immediately looked like the steadying force Justin Herbert’s offensive line needed.

That momentum has now been smashed.

Biadasz suffered an injury during the Chargers’ joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers and could not put any weight on his leg before being carted off for more testing. The early fear turned into a much harsher reality when ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that Biadasz is out indefinitely after sustaining damage to his ACL and other parts of his left knee.

Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said on The Pat McAfee Show that Biadasz is seeking a second opinion, but his tone made clear this is a serious situation.

"Tyler Biadasz has been so dialed in and invested in this team..

He got hurt on a 1 in 10,000 play and he's hell-bent on doing whatever he can to keep playing..

He's looking at some options and second opinions" @jimharbaugh #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/VWIiWvncQI

It’s a brutal turn for a player who responded to being cut by Washington by getting right back to work and earning praise in a new spot. Now the possibility exists that a second opinion will only confirm the worst-case scenario, sending Biadasz into a long rehab process instead of the season he had just begun to rebuild.

The timing makes it even uglier. Injuries are the part of this stretch of the NFL calendar nobody wants to see, and Biadasz has joined the list of players whose plans have been blown apart before the games even start.

Washington, for its part, hasn’t escaped the injury chaos either. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil is possibly out for the entire 2026 campaign with a torn triceps, while others are also dealing with their own issues. The player brought in to replace Biadasz at center, Nick Allegretti, is also coming back from a calf strain he suffered on the first day of training camp.

Biadasz is known as a tough, respected presence, and he’ll need plenty of that now. But for the moment, the Chargers’ promising new start for him has been derailed in the harshest way possible.

Commanders Just Reached A Level Fans Could Only Imagine

The Commanders rise off the field has started to look every bit as dramatic as anything happening on it. Washington is now valued at $9.64 billion, a figure that puts the franchise 11th in the NFL and reflects a 30% jump from last year, a leap that would have sounded hard to believe not long ago for a team trying to rebuild its identity on multiple fronts.

There is still plenty of room to climb, with the Cowboys sitting at the top of the league and the Bengals at the bottom of the current valuation list. But the bigger story for Washington is what comes next, because sustained success and the planned new stadium in D.C. in 2030 could push the franchise into an even different financial tier. Rachaad White Suddenly Faces A Commanders Question He Did Not Need

Rachaad Whites first summer with the Commanders has already brought an awkward bit of uncertainty. The veteran running back signed with Washington in 2026 after four seasons with Tampa Bay, and he arrived with a chance to carve out a useful role in a crowded backfield, even if that role was always likely to be a smaller one in the teams rotation.

Instead, White has now missed back-to-back practice sessions with an undisclosed injury, and the timing has only fueled chatter around a recent team ice bucket challenge video. There has been no official confirmation tying the absence to anything specific, but for a player trying to settle in and make an early impression, any unexplained missed time is the kind of thing that can quickly turn a routine camp update into a situation worth watching.
