The NFL spotlight turned to Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets showcased their talent at pro day. While they might not boast top-tier prospects, several players demonstrated potential to make waves at the next level.
Quarterback Haynes King, wide receiver Eric Rivers, and offensive lineman Keylan Rutledge stood out, earning high praise from NFL scouts.
The Washington Commanders showed particular interest in Eric Rivers, according to draft analyst Tony Pauline. Rivers, who clocked an impressive 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine, maintained that speed during drills, catching the eye of several teams.
His speed, explosiveness, and reliable hands were highlights, enhancing his stock in the predraft process. Rivers recently met with the Commanders, Falcons, Saints, and Jaguars.
Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 176 pounds, Rivers’ 4.35-second dash was the second-fastest among receivers in the combine's gauntlet drill. His journey began at Memphis, followed by two years at Florida International, and culminated at Georgia Tech. Despite limited play early on, he wrapped up his college career with 97 receptions, 1,566 yards, and 14 touchdowns, averaging over 16 yards per catch-a testament to his explosiveness.
The Commanders are on the hunt for speed, having shown interest in Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce and former Packers wideout Romeo Doubs. With the 2026 NFL Draft on the horizon, Rivers’ quickness makes him a compelling prospect for Washington to consider.
