The Washington Commanders are now valued at $9.64 billion in Sportico’s 2026 NFL team rankings, a number that reflects just how much the franchise has climbed in recent years.
That puts Washington 11th in the league, even after a 30% year-over-year jump from 2025. The Commanders did not keep their place inside the top 10, though.
They slipped from 10th to 11th after the Atlanta Falcons moved ahead of them with a 39% increase and landed at No. 10.
Sportico’s latest annual valuation report, which it began publishing in 2020, shows how sharply the league’s financial ceiling keeps rising. The average NFL team is now worth $9.34 billion, up 31% from 2025, when the average club was valued at $7.13 billion. Sportico called it the biggest single-year increase in at least a decade.
At the top of the list, the Dallas Cowboys remain the NFL’s most valuable team at $15.5 billion. At the other end, the Cincinnati Bengals are last among the 32 teams at $7.4 billion.
Washington’s valuation comes after a 2024 season that clearly boosted the franchise’s standing. The Commanders are one of the NFL’s oldest organizations, first joining the league in 1932 in Boston before moving to the Washington, D.C., area in 1937. Their history includes both strong stretches and lean ones, but the recent surge in value shows how much momentum the organization has gained.
And there may be more growth ahead. If Washington matches its 2024 success in 2026, another major jump could be coming in next year’s valuation report. The bigger financial leap, though, is expected when the Commanders open their new stadium in Washington, D.C. in 2030.
