Commanders Just Made A Brutal Statement Against The Eagles

The Commanders extended the Eagles' losing streak in a dramatic turnaround marked by impressive performance from Washington's key players.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ slide kept getting uglier Sunday night, and this one turned into a full-blown collapse. Washington rolled past Philadelphia 27-10 at Northwest Stadium, handing the Eagles their sixth straight loss and turning what looked like a promising start into another painful finish.

Philadelphia actually came out with some juice. Jake Elliott opened the scoring with a 40-yard field goal, and Saquon Barkley followed with a three-yard touchdown run to push the Eagles ahead 10-0. For a brief stretch, it looked like the visitors might have control of Sunday Night Football.

Then everything flipped.

Washington answered with 27 straight points and never gave the game back. Rookie kicker Drew Stevens kept the pressure on by knocking through four consecutive field goals, and Jayden Daniels helped swing the momentum before halftime with an eight-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs that tied the score. Daniels finished 16 of 29 for 217 yards and that touchdown, while Treylon Burks’ 53-yard catch gave Washington a major spark and helped set up key points.

Philadelphia’s offense never recovered from there, and Tanner McKee was left trying to survive behind a battered line. Filling in under heavy pressure, McKee went 23 of 34 for 212 yards, but the sacks and turnovers piled up fast. He was taken down five times and lost two costly turnovers, including a strip-sack by Dorance Armstrong Jr. that directly led to a Washington field goal.

The Eagles also hurt themselves with mistakes that had nothing to do with Washington’s pass rush. An illegal formation wiped out a made field goal in the second half, and Elliott then missed the retry wide.

The final blow came late, when Rasul Douglas intercepted McKee on a fourth-and-25 heave to shut the door. On the very next play, Rachaad White ran in a one-yard touchdown to finish off the scoring.

Now sitting at 2-6, Philadelphia is staring at a season that’s drifting fast. The questions around Nick Sirianni only get louder from here.

Dan Quinn Suddenly Has A Commanders Problem Fans Can't Ignore

The Commanders defensive slump has become one of the clearest pressure points of Dan Quinns 2026 season, and it is not hard to see why. A new scheme under defensive coordinator Daronte Jones was supposed to bring structure and a fresh identity, but the unit has instead been dealing with the kind of issues that tend to linger when a staff is still trying to find its footing.

Odafe Oweh has already pointed to miscommunications inside the defensive operation, which only adds to the sense that the problems go beyond effort or execution on the field. Washington also turned to former head coach Steve Wilks as a consultant to help the secondary, a move that underscores how much work remains as Quinn and Jones try to steady a defense that still looks like it is sorting itself out. Commanders Win Changes Dan Quinn Mood But One Problem Wont Go Away

A Sunday night win over the Eagles gave Dan Quinn and the Commanders a needed lift, even if the performance came with plenty of familiar blemishes. Washington was sloppy early and still has not shaken the penalty problems that have dogged it, but the result offered a little breathing room for a coach who has been under real pressure as the season has gone on.

Shy Tuttle was one of the more encouraging signs on the field, especially with the defensive line thinned by injuries. He was asked to handle a much bigger workload and responded with his most impactful showing since arriving in Washington, a reminder that the Commanders may need more of that kind of depth and resilience if they are going to turn one good night into something more lasting. Commanders Mock Draft Hints At A Roster Reset Fans May Not Want

With a critical game against the Eagles looming, the Commanders are staring at more than just one result on the schedule. The matchup could help shape the direction of the season and, by extension, the future of Dan Quinn, while general manager Adam Peters is also facing a deadline period made trickier by injuries to key players and a reported reluctance to make a move.

That uncertainty is what makes the latest mock draft feel less like a far-off exercise and more like a snapshot of where this roster could be headed. The projection points to a major need along the front and suggests Washington may be preparing for a reset that would force some hard decisions about the edge group and how much of it can realistically be brought back.
