Commanders Eye Romeo Doubs to Boost Jayden Daniels' Potential

Commanders eye potential boost to their receiving corps with interest in free agent Romeo Doubs.

As the free agency window approaches, all eyes are on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Drafted in the fourth round back in 2022, Doubs has delivered solid numbers-202 receptions, 2,424 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns. Yet, there's a sense among fans that his potential with the Packers wasn't fully realized.

If Doubs does hit the market, the Washington Commanders might be a prime destination. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Doubs is “as good as gone,” a sentiment echoed by recent social media posts that seem like farewells.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 204 pounds, Doubs offers a blend of size and speed that NFL teams covet. While he may not be the fastest on the field, his background as a high school running back makes him elusive with the ball. Doubs is known for his reliable hands and precise route-running, making him a versatile asset.

The Packers initially drafted Doubs as part of a strategy to bolster their receiving corps for then-quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While fellow draftee Christian Watson was pegged as the deep threat, it was Doubs who initially caught the spotlight, forming a quick connection with Rodgers. Despite this, he never quite reached the heights fans hoped for.

When Jayden Reed went down with an injury in 2025, Doubs seized the opportunity, leading the Packers in receiving that year. This breakout performance, however, may have priced him out of Green Bay's budget.

Projections suggest Doubs could command a four-year, $48.01 million contract-an attractive option for a team like Washington. Paired with a star like Terry McLaurin, Doubs could serve as a dynamic second option. His ability to line up in various roles adds a layer of versatility to any offense.

While the offseason will feature bigger names, Doubs could be a strategic acquisition for the Commanders. Adding him to a roster with emerging talents like Jaylin Lane and Luke McCaffrey could provide the stability and production Washington needs.

If Doubs can harness the flashes of brilliance he showed in Green Bay, he might just become a cornerstone of the Commanders’ offense for years to come.
