In the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, Notre Dame's standout running back Jeremiyah Love is turning heads, and the Washington Commanders are definitely interested. They're eyeing Love as a potential game-changer to pair with quarterback Jayden Daniels, hoping to boost their offensive firepower.
With the seventh overall pick, the Commanders are in a decent position, but there's a catch. The Tennessee Titans, picking at No. 4, are also in the mix and could snag Love before Washington gets the chance.
According to ESPN's Matt Bowen, there's a scenario where Love could fall to the Commanders. Bowen suggests that the Titans might opt for Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles instead, which would leave Love available at seven.
Bowen notes that Love is a perfect fit for the Commanders, especially under the guidance of new coordinator David Blough. Love's versatility as both a runner and receiver could bring a new level of balance to Washington's offense, much like Jahmyr Gibbs has done in Detroit.
Jayden Daniels, in particular, would benefit from Love's presence. Daniels needs a reliable target for big plays, and Love, with his 39 rushes of 10 or more yards last season, fits the bill. His ability to contribute as a pass catcher is expected to expand in the NFL, potentially making him a key offensive weapon.
If Love joins the Commanders, it would likely shift Jacory Croskey-Merritt down the depth chart. But if Love lives up to his potential, the move could significantly elevate Washington's offensive game, giving them the dynamic edge they've been seeking.
