Adam Schefter Pushes Back On Commanders Draft Buzz Around One Prospect

Despite fan excitement, Adam Schefter clarifies his prediction, not a report, regarding the Commanders' interest in Notre Dame standout Jeremiyah Love.

The Washington Commanders are sitting pretty with the No. 7 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, and they've got some intriguing options on the table. One name creating quite the buzz is Notre Dame's standout running back, Jeremiyah Love.

On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter joined "The Pat McAfee Show" and floated the idea that Love could be a perfect fit for Washington. “I could see Washington being interested in a player like Jeremiyah Love. Seven would be the spot,” Schefter mentioned, sparking excitement among fans.

However, Schefter later appeared on The Team 980 to clarify his comments, emphasizing he was offering a prediction rather than a report. “Let me be very clear, I've never spoken to Washington about Jeremiyah Love.

Never once, okay? But I've spoken to a lot of people about Jeremiyah Love and the kind of player he is,” Schefter explained.

He added that Washington has been eyeing the running back market. With Love's talent, if he slips past the fourth, fifth, and sixth picks, grabbing him at seven would be a savvy move for the Commanders.

Love's performance in his third year at Notre Dame was nothing short of spectacular. He led the team to a 10-2 record, rushing for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, alongside 27 receptions for 280 yards and three touchdowns. His efforts earned him the title of Unanimous All-American and made him a Heisman Trophy finalist.

If Washington snags Love, he'd be an instant upgrade to their offense. Last month, when asked about the potential of drafting the 20-year-old running back, Washington coach Dan Quinn had some telling remarks.

The Commanders are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 5-12 season, and adding a dynamic playmaker like Love could be the key to turning things around.
