As the NFL Draft draws near, the buzz around one of this year's most intriguing prospects, Jeremiyah Love, is heating up. Adam Schefter, a well-respected voice in the NFL world, recently shared his insights on The Pat McAfee Show, suggesting that the Washington Commanders at number seven might be the perfect landing spot for Love.
Schefter doesn't foresee Love heading to the Titans or the Giants, positioned at numbers four and five, respectively. While the Giants could be an interesting fit, especially with their current roster dynamics, Schefter leans towards the Commanders as the more likely destination.
He notes, “I could see Washington being interested in a player like Jeremiyah Love. Seven would be the spot.”
The Giants' potential decision to pass on Love is particularly intriguing given their current running back situation. Cam Skattebo, drafted in the fourth round last year, showed significant promise before an ankle injury cut his season short. In just eight games, Skattebo racked up over 600 total yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing his potential as a key player in their backfield.
Despite Skattebo's impressive performance, Love presents a tempting option. A standout at Notre Dame, Love rushed for 2,882 yards and 36 touchdowns, while also proving his versatility with 594 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His contributions were pivotal in Notre Dame's journey to the College Football Playoffs and the national championship game during the 2024-2025 season.
Should Schefter's prediction hold true, the Commanders might just find themselves benefiting from the Giants' depth at running back. Love's blend of rushing prowess and receiving ability could make him a game-changer for Washington, adding a dynamic edge to their offensive lineup.
