The Washington Capitals are set to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights, wrapping up their three-game road trip with the same lineup they showcased in Utah. Coach Spencer Carbery confirmed that the lineup will remain unchanged, meaning fans will have to wait a bit longer to see David Kampf in action. Although Kampf joined the team on the road, he remained a healthy scratch against the Utah Mammoth and will sit out once more on Saturday.
In other roster news, Ethen Frank is making strides in his recovery from a day-to-day lower-body injury. He’s upgraded from a non-contact jersey, according to radio broadcaster John Walton, but isn’t quite ready to return to the ice.
With both Frank and Kampf sidelined, Ivan Miroshnichenko will enjoy his second consecutive game in the lineup. The rookie impressed Coach Carbery with a standout performance against the Mammoth, netting two goals and fully embracing his role. As the season winds down, Carbery is keen to see Miroshnichenko continue developing his NHL identity.
Carbery elaborated on the young forward’s potential, noting, "Miro is starting to carve out his niche at the NHL level. You saw glimpses of it the other night.
He’s a natural goal scorer and needs to consistently find ways to generate scoring opportunities. Beyond that, it’s about becoming a dependable player, understanding the reads and decisions required on every shift."
The Capitals are gearing up for puck drop at 10:30 p.m. ET, ready to take on the challenge in Vegas.
